2002 against TT. To say my first game experience was phenomenal would be an understatement.

My first game was in the band in 2000. THE Ohio Bobcats.

Incidentally, I just looked at the attendence numbers for 2000. For an 7-3 team, in their last home game, we had 36,725 listed for Kansas. So it was likely less than that in the stadium. Ouch. The high water attendence mark for the year was 50,043 for Nebraska (probably a third of them NU fans).

I think we had more fans at the bowl game that year than we did for some of the homes games.

I think you are right. I remember Bank One Ballpark being a sea of cardinal with one corner being Pitt blue. That's where our reputation of being a good traveling bowl team came from. Phoenix was packed with ISU fans.

I was able to go to the Insight.com Bowl, Independence and the Smurf Bowl in my years in band. Insight was by far the best.

Mine was 1992 against Ohio. It rained non-stop but we had no trouble putting away the Bobcats. Ahh, the bad old days...Jim Walden, astroturf, yellow helmets, and celebrating if we got a tie.

October 3, 1959

Missouri, Lost 14-0

Sept 17, 1960 Drake W 41-0 (first victory)

12-10. 1984. Switzer. Just guess who had the 10. Argh.
Ah yes, the Everclear boda game.....

A night game with the Musco lights, nationally televised on ESPN. Braswell was exceptional that night, looked like we were going to pull off the upset until Spencer Tillman broke one about 50 yards late in the 4th and OK scored about 3 plays later.

My first game was also Danny Mac's first game. Ohio, 1995. I remember rushing the field and the crowd tearing down the goal post since they didn't win a game in the 94 season.

Same for me, was my freshman year at ISU. I also happen to know the current whereabouts of the crossbar from the goal post that came down after that game.

Probably not the first game I ever went to, but the first game I remember distinctly...

September 23, 1995 - Iowa State beats UNLV 57-30. Troy Davis scored 5 touchdowns that day... it was awesome.

Back in the early 1960's, I went on a 4-H sponsored trip to ISU. Part of the deal was that we got north end zone tickets to see Iowa State play VMI. The two things I remember about it were that tom Vaughn returned a kickoff for a touchdown and the cyclones won. I started school at ISU in the fall of 1966, and I have missed only a hand full of games since.

I think it was in 1970 against Kansas at Clyde Williams field. Isu won the game 44-0. Dean Carlson was the QB and George Amundson was the TB. In 1972 when isu tied Nebraska I'm pretty sure it was Willie Jones who caught the game tying TD before the missed xp.

October 4, 2003. Lost to Oklahoma 53-7. They were #1 at the time, so I was just thrilled to be going to a big time college football game.

1956, After 6th grade summer. Skinnied in under the fence on the south side of Clyde Williams. Later they wanted me to come in the right way as a Single Wing player.
