I did a quick search on Tim Fisher, and it looks like he was program director at KWQW (98.3 WOW FM) until he got in a physical altercation with on-air talent J. Michael McCoy. When Citadel suspsended McCoy for three days instead of firing him, Fisher quit.

This was in 2006. I can find nothing about him since.

Citadel also owns 1700 the Champ.

Should have used past tense. 590 was always the anti-Husker voice in Omaha market. I'm not even saying that was a bad thing. But it doesn't tell you anything about Justice's personal slant.
It was only the anti-Husker voice in the Omaha market because one of its radio show co-hosts Matty P., a.k.a. "Giggles", tried to make it that way because Husker Football dominated the airwaves and nobody cared about Creighton and their sports, especially men's basketball which Matty P. is still a shill for since he is a co-publisher of a Creighton Rivals site called "The BlueJay Cafe" which has gotten him into some hot water in the past. I hope that I as a Huskers fan and people on here as Cyclone fans can agree on at least one thing and that is our hatred for Matty P. as a sportstalk radio show host.

As long as both aren't Hawkeye homers, I don't care who it is. I heard that Justice wants to do it from Omaha.

Travis is from a little town 35 miles east of Omaha off I-80. He is a very good choice. he can be a little risque if he needs to be. He can be more than a sportsguy. And he is not a big Red Sox fan.

Good choice.

Tell him he needs to pipe his shows into the Omaha area if he is doing them from here. It would remind the nebby people of their old Big 12 conference.

I'm very optimistic. I heard bits and pieces of several of the auditions and these two stood out to me. I was hoping one of them would get the gig, but for some reason didn't think both would. If they have good chemistry together, I think this could be a great show. Not real crazy about Justice not being located here though.

I used to listen to Fisher when he was on Mac and Mr Fisher (WOW FM 98.3). It was as newstalk type show. I believe prior to this, his background was sportstalk radio.

Travis Justice is a graduate of the University of Iowa. I have a fear this time slot will be dominated by Hawk Talk and Cyclone Bashing. Is it too much to ask that at least one Cyclone homer can be on at least one time slot of one radio station in Des Moines? Just one time slot? Good grief.

New KXNO Morning Host(s)

I missed the naming of the new morning show for KXNO yesterday. Can anyone fill me in?

I was listening on the way to work this morning and Chuck Reed was hosting. Please tell me he's just filling in. His football insight is worse than Larry Cotler's.

He actually said that Texas needs more walk-on players and fewer 5-star recruits, if they want to be a better team.

Go back and read pages 1-5. It will fill you in.

OK here is my take on Matty P's old 590 show in Omaha... Matts first football season on the air he tried to give Iowa and ISU as much airtime as they could handle. I remember the Friday before the 2005 ISU Nubby game. Matt gave equal time to both isu and nubby fans to talk smack... One of the best days of his radio show....But after Nubby pulled off that win it was clear that 590 WAS a Husker station. I would even say matt went on to be a husker homer, but almost because you have too to do radio in Omaha.... Actually Matt and Travis Justice did a show togeather for the last couple months of Matts Show...

Hell I really hate to stick up for matt cuz alot of his tweets really bug me (and i live in Western Iowa so i dont listen to his DM Radio) but He did a live radio remote for ISU's Thursday night home opener in 05 i believe... FROM A BAR IN AMES with a "husker" radio station.

I dont really know why matt has taken this stance on ISU now that he is in the DSM Market... To be honest when i heard he was going to be on DSM i thought he would be getting along better with clones then he is......

Way up there
Trav is by no means a "Hawkeye Homer". In Omaha he was usually balanced and did give ISU some love when we deserved it. Even when he did the Sunday Husker call in show he was pretty neutral, I think he's a good choice and in no way should be compared to Perrault.

I live in Omaha ,he is a fence rider , who ever wins ,he is on the band wagon, listen to him for years , can't stand him

disagree... He was born and raised in IOWA..(as in the State of Iowa). I think he will fit in better as far as a radio show goes in DM vs Omaha... I personally think he just covered Nebraska, never became a fan... which your not supossed to due as a media guy... and which is what Omaha is full of...Media Fans!!!

I'm guessing Justice will still have trouble divorcing his geographical location. I really do not want to hear about the huskers ... at all. We do not live in Nebraska, nor do we live in Council Bluffs or Carter Lake.

The afternoon guy still has trouble forgetting that this is Des Moines and not Omaha. Aside from Cotlar being gone (a positive) 1460 is definitely on a decline since the meltdown last year.

Pretty sure that Travis Justice went to Grand View.

I think there is more discussion about the local sports radio than there is discussion on the local sports radio.
