Stories from that dump of a stadium

One story I really wish I could share, but someone would get in trouble...

Others though:

Walking in ahead of the game on the south side of the stadium. Very crowded. About 15-feet in front of me a full beer can hits the pavement at very high velocity and explodes. I assume it was coming down from being thrown very high in the air. Somehow it missed hitting anyone, but it could have very seriously hurt, or killed, a person I think. No idea who threw, if it was random or aiming at someone.

Iowa fan, student age, two seats away from me yelled "**** STATE" frequently. I think he was trying to get a rise out of any Cyclone fan who would bite, but no one gave him much back. One older gentlemen walking up the steps did pat him on the head like he was a child. As drunk as the ass was, he knew enough not to fight an elderly man.

On the way out after the game, two Karens talking, "I mean, good for them they won. But it was our worst team in years. Why do they have to act like the won the national championship?" Other one answers, "Well they haven't beat us in 6 years." I legitimately laughed out loud listening to that. They knew I was laughing at them. They looked hurt by it.

The halftime show with the Cambus was bad, but it was so bad it was actually pretty funny. I kind of wonder if that was the intent.

My mother-in-law was sporting this shirt last weekend, bless her heart. She’s not a big sports fan. I told her it must’ve been pretty cheap. I let other Hawkeyes explain why. After the game I asked if she’d sell it to me. I want to wear it around town ironically.
You can match the Ferentz boys and maybe Petras’ mother!

Seems like another fine merchandising decision by Hy-Vee. They can sell them in Wahlburger’s and throw in a free soap bomb.

Holy cow Carvers your on a roll tonight. Especially those of us understand the soap bomb reference. Went into HyVee in Albert Lea Saturday they had the soap bombs at the front of the store you could smell them from at least 3 ft away. I actually thought of you when I went by, thinking damn you'd be mad.

Guy behind us complaining about the officiating most of the game really got upset by the back-to-back time outs. Was screaming at the top of his lungs about it being a penalty. My wife (Iowa grad) looked at me and asked, "is that a really a penalty". I told her yes, in the pros, NO in college. I said it loud enough for him to hear, and he said, "well, it should be in college too". All I could do was shake my head.

I have a few Iowa friends who said they are not going to the Nevada game after last week. I know they've technically sold out all of their home games, but I hope we see declining attendance all season. That Nevada game has the potential to be pretty sparsely attended. If they are sitting at 3-4 with Northwestern coming to town, it could get ugly in Kinnick.
They will have a good crowd, for the simple reason that the Nevada game was one that many of the tavernhawks could get tickets too. It was the lowest priced game of the season, and many of their fans will go to the game.

Season ticket holders may miss it, but not the tavernhawks. They will still count it as a sellout either way, and the EIU fans will proclaim what a great fan base they have over east.

Iowa’s lack of security was obvious!! Buddy walked through the ticket gate with a small six pack cooler that he had strapped over his shoulder. Walked by a deputy, and two security guys. When he got in he couldn’t believe it. Even walked by security folks to get to his seat!

1. I still can’t get over Iowa not giving Petras at least a small break. Forget liking him a lot, they must hate him to make him go out there at this point. Campbell gave Purdy (a much better player) a breather when he was so bad last year against Iowa.

2. Booing players is bad and I won’t do it. I will say though I’m less against it with NIL.
The sad part is I've heard their backups are even worse than Petras. It takes A LOT to be worse than a quarterback that overthrows every 2 yard pass.

I'm willing to say that some (but not all) Iowa fans are booing the coaches and not Petras directly. But it doesn't matter because they're booing the coaches for not pulling Petras because he's playing terribly. So they're still booing because he's playing horribly. That's not better.
Jon Miller said it best on his Iowa Everywhere podcast with CW after the SDSU game. “Boos are not smart bombs. They aren’t heard by a single target like Brian Ferentz. There’s a lot of collateral damage because they’re heard by the whole team.” It’s going to get really bad in Kinnick if they lose at Rutgers and then the curb stomping begins at home against Michigan.

Not exactly sure.

It was so dark when you first get in there, felt like you were in an old warehouse. Like I've said before, they need to go to OUs stadium and see how they have worked with their stadium. Would improve it quite a bit.

Sitting in section 110 which is the farthest south section on the east side, 35 rows up. We had 15ish Cyclone fans and we were doing "thats another Cyclone 1st down" and you could tell the Hawk fans were getting agitated but by the end of the game we were both taking shots at the other team on how they were going to get more and more creative turning the ball over. Overall had more fun with ISU winning in Kinnick since the 1st time I went was Campbells 1st year and the 42-3 beat down ISU took. Looking forward to this game against Ohio Saturday and the RV village! Hoping the rain stays away!

FWIW, i have 2 old hs friends that have season tix. One has already decided to sell his tix for this game. He will still go tailgate w his brother, then drive home and watch game there.
"No need to sit there and watch this **** in person when i can do it in comfort of my own home"
