This picture is a bit misleading. Someone had just asked the gentleman how many touchdowns they've scored this year.
It looks like his other hand is doing the same gesture. Maybe he was asked how many safeties they've scored. This picture is a bit misleading. Someone had just asked the gentleman how many touchdowns they've scored this year.
Maybe somewhat. Sometimes you can call that stuff "an outlier" or whatever. but there does seem to be an allowed pattern that occurs in IC, more often than it should. That pattern could and should be curtailed and condemned, whenever it surfaces, by the higher ups. You know, the coaches, AD, President, announcers, refs, etc.I mean, it's not like it was that SEC game last year (was it Tennessee/Auburn) where it was raining water bottles. A couple random people throwing cans isn't great, but it's nothing to make a big deal over. I've seen all of one pic of one can on the field. I'm one of the first to condemn hoks on their crap, but I feel like this is NBD.
It’s their culture. We stood outside the barstool set up and the Hawkeyes were throwing stuff before the people even came out. My youngest said he say peioe spraying the crowd with their beers and drinks also. Then they pelted everyone on stage with stuff and even head shotted the pregnant woman. Throwing stuff is in their blood. You gotta stop that crap at some level or it will just keep growing
I agree with this. Them throwing stuff at the ref and/or players... I'm surprised the refs didn't stop play to somehow get a handle on the situation. Honestly if it weren't for the horrible calls that went against ISU at the very end of the game, I think fans would have been even more pissed off.
That would be a hawkeye, someone who can't count. This picture is a bit misleading. Someone had just asked the gentleman how many touchdowns they've scored this year.
I was in the North EZ, where most of the action was. After the X TD I saw at least 4 beer cans and 2 water bottles, not all of them made the playing surface. Otherwise I had a pretty good experience, had not been in Kinnick since Tim Dwight played... Some dipsticks behind us whaling at the refs for every call/non call in the game...And seemingly NOTHING was done or said about it! At least I didn't hear anything said from the BTN announcers. The officials apparently didn't do anything. Nothing from the stadium announcer, I don't think.
You can't let stuff like that go.
So yeah, John and Eric saw it and talked about it. But nothing still on Iowa's side? Strong culture over there if not.
I re-ran it about 10x. Couldn't believe it each time. Looked like a beer can to me.
What does it take for them do do something? Hit a player?
Has Iowa said anything about that kind of behavior, publically, yet?
My biz partner has been a fan since he was little, used to go watch through some wood fence in the early 70s when he was a kid. His dad was a prof there.I went to the game with an hawk friend of mine. He refuses to boo, but is actively rooting against the team right now so KF will make a change at QB. Said if they don't show any signs of life, he's not planning on watching anymore games this year. And he's a diehard.
I kept repeating Chris' line to him "You watch. Petras is gonna be Joe Montana on Saturday." My buddy kept saying "I DON'T want that to happen because we need to bench him!"My biz partner has been a fan since he was little, used to go watch through some wood fence in the early 70s when he was a kid. He says he won't be watching anymore this year, it's just too ugly and hopeless. He went into the season without much hope because of Petras, but it's just unwatchable for him at this point.
He spent saturday golfing and skipped the game entirely.
80 -20 splitIt looked like there was a LOT of cardinal in the crowd on tv. Any speculation on % isu fans?
Problem is that the rain ponchos and rain coats for both teams (and there were several people wearing them the whole time) were both yellow. So it made it hard to tell to me.80 -20 split
Toads? This wasn’t at the stadium but in a bar in Cedar Falls, my buddy and I walked in and there wasn’t very many people. We walked in and this drunk 25 something punk told us to **** ourselves. We had ISU hats on.
I’m not one to let something like that go even though I should have. Plus I had had a few. Not sure he expected a middle age guy to call him on his ********. Some trash talking and his girl told him to shut his mouth before he got his ass kicked.
I’m just tired of Hawkeye fans and their ********
It was a couple water bottles and pry a beer or two. It was definitely more than one beer. And seemingly NOTHING was done or said about it! At least I didn't hear anything said from the BTN announcers. The officials apparently didn't do anything. Nothing from the stadium announcer, I don't think.

To be honest, if I had to explain to a radio audience Iowa's offense as it "happened" I'd have to be drunk to get through it.Wait. Are you implying that the Hwakeye radio crew was drinking during the game, and that one of them was drunk? If so, that is amazing! A fireable offense at most places, I would think. No?
I'm one of those guys and I won't go back. Wasn't running my mouth, just walking down the sidewalk with I guess the wrong color shirt on. I went to two games there and can count 5 different incidents that were just over the top bad...including getting into a shoving match with some drunk dude who wanted to fight us because he got hit with a beer can that was aimed at us. I've seen bad stuff from ISU fans in Ames for that game as well, but IC is 10x worse. I'll never go back there. I applaud those ISU fans who make that trip to cheer on the team, but I'll be happy watching from home.
My former tavernhawk wife was more irritated than I was. There was a group behind us trying to ride us hard. I just kept walking, I knew it was bothering them that We had ignored them the whole time , but my wife took a turn as soon as she could and said she had to get away from them asap. I laughed and said, you get used to them after a bunch of years and they wanted a response out of us.
She was more concerned about her oldest who had had a few when a dude was getting ready to fight him since he only waved about 2/3rds of the song. Dude was sitting in the ISU group and wanting to fight several people. Even another drunk Iowa kid who was in the wrong seats. The drunk Iowa kid immediately befriended us after the tuff guy went at him the first time.
Couldn't agree more. I have been to over a dozen games there, and each time was "uncomfortable" at best. One year a drunk guy fell into and knocked over my mother in the stands. She never went to a game again.
On the other hand, two of my children have attended school there, and I enjoy the wide variety of restaurants that generally are missing in Ames.
This is why I declined a free ticket and seat in our work suite with co-workers. The rain game in 08 was my last ISU game there and my last because of **** thrown at me. Was there with my FIL, who is a big IA fan.
Do we want to discuss prohibition of alcohol at Trice? I for one feel like 'maybe' it should be allowed, because it might make the AD some money, and people are gonna smuggle it in anyway. The entitlement of the big donors is pretty amazing. They used to get booze when the serfs weren't allowed. I didn't think that was such a big deal but apparently there was way more backlash and cancelling of tickets at the time than anyone realized.
Parents, yes, and good coaches very likely. And they all sound like solid team players whenever they are interviewed. Their parents seemed to have raised them well, it appears.
5-Star CultureI've had the opportunity to meet and interact with both X and Noel a couple of times. They present to me as first-class dudes. They are beyond easy to root hard for.
Zabel says hi.Wait. Are you implying that the Hwakeye radio crew was drinking during the game, and that one of them was drunk? If so, that is amazing! A fireable offense at most places, I would think. No?

LOL. OK then. Long standing culture then at play. I should have known!Zabel says hi.
