Recruitment officially starts on Sunday. Most of the sorority women have been back since Sunday doing extremely important things like working on songs, skits and how to give a proper house tour.

I miss those days...

Yes, I am a sorority alumna.

This keeps getting better and better

Dated a soriety girl once. Ended up being one of the most miserable relationships I have ever been in. Never been a big fan of the greek system either. Have seen it turn too many people into complete arrogant jerks.

My experience with the Greek system was usually dependant on when and how I met the people. Some were not so pleasant others are close friends.

soriety? Like sobriety but without the b? :jimlad:

Not to turn this into the neverending Greek community vs. non-Greek debate, but you'll find arrogant jerks anywhere. Fraternities/sororities are not for everyone, but those of us who were in one, typically say joining is one of the best things we did.

There are a lot greeks that give the rest of us a bad name, but if you take 3,000+ people and put them in well identifiable shirts, houses, events, etc. of course you're going to have your share of jerks & biotches. Go over to Cyclone Tower and meet everybody that lives there. You'll find just as many jerks & biotches, the only difference is, they don't have greek letters on their shirts.

I am anti-greek as well(or a GDI, I believe we are called). I also, dated 1 sorority chick in my life. Problem is we have been married for 8 years.

Well let me say this with risking ticking off a bunch of people about my real hatred for the greek system. I have probably way more negative experiences involving that than I do positive. I have some good friends that were greeks, also lost some friends that became greek and turned into complete jerks, also met a lot of these same people that treated you like you weren't worthy to be in their presence once they found out you weren't greek too. Probably one of them most uncomfortable moments of my college days was when my sororiety girlfriend took me on their "house party trip" or whatever it was with their greek brother house. Went about an hour out of Ames on a bus to some bar they had reserved for the night. Once I started meeting people and they found out I was not a frat boy like most of the guys on the bus were all the sudden I was either looked at differently or not worthy of socializing with some of them. Very ackward night and some of the very same stereotypes these people try to say don't exsist they didn't do a great job of exhibiting behavior that would make me think those stereotypes are untrue.

Sorry, probably already said too much but eventually the sororiety girl drama came out and that relationship because miserable toward the end and I had to get out while I still had some kind of sanity. Although I do have a funny story of how one of the gay guys on the floor I lived on purposely joined a frat hoping that would "get the gay out of him" and ironically all it did was one of his house brothers wound up pinning him down on the floor one night and seducing him! He said he was completely shocked and was the last thing he thought would have happened to him there!

Why is it that everytime we have a discussion that ends up greek vs. non-greek we have to hear the same stories over and over. I get this place is therepy from some but dont put it out there if you dont like the responses

I've met a bunch of ******** that were in a frat. They were also from WDM so I'm not sure what caused what. The only thing I can gather definitively is frat boys from WDM are the worst kind.

I'd like to take this opportunity to hijack my thread back from the clutches of the greek vs GDI crowd. I understand as I'm not the fondest of the greek community as well but we all must understand there's bad apples in every bunch.

I just wanted this thread to be in admiration of all of the hood rats back on campus greek or non greek. I hope we can all agree on that.

its going to be a good weekend. We just made our cards, we have the lawn chairs ready, keystone light in the fridges, and our volleyball net ready to go! Too bad the girls can't go out for another week...

Thank you for confirming my reasons for not joining a wet house. ( I know yours is damp.)
