Wanna have a little fun with Iowa's dismal football season? Do what I did today. I walked into a store and asked the clerk (in front of a bunch of guys wearing Iowa jackets and caps) where I could find the Hawkeye bowl game sweatshirts and T's... when she said she wasn't sure but offered to ask a manager, I just smiled, said never mind, and walked away...dang that was fun.

It would have been "ok" had we made a bowl game ourselves. After a 3-9 season, not so much.

Someone want to help me, here? I left my "universal semiliterate translator" in the car. What did this guy just say???:wideeyed:

I will re-state my standard line. Relishing hawkfan misery is an entirely distinct and separate activity from enjoying ISU victories.

Several employees at Fareway in Ankeny reminded me how bad Drake beat us. Pretty annoying to have Hawk fans in your face after beating them and without saying a thing to them at first.

Try having to deal with friends from high school who went to UNI

Of course 2 years ago they were singing a different tune in that "All panther fans are really either Hawkeyes or Cyclones that went to UNI for the degree" (they were more the Hawkeye side, though neither really gives a **** unless it's to give me ****)

Nothing wrong with a little teasing.

"Hey, where's Iowa going bowling?"

"Yeah, well neither is ISU!"

"Uh huh, remember how the Iowa-ISU game is our bowl game?"

"Congrats then, ya'll finally won a bowl game!"

Now, common, for anybody who actually takes a little ribbing seriously, lighten up. Being a fan of a different team and catching some flack isn't like racism, although some people treat it like it is. "Oh no, I was at this one place, and all these people pointed and laughed at me because of my shirt color."

No.

I had to laugh... the one time I've been to Iowa City in the last couple of years I just happened to be wearing a black shirt (had nothing to do with Iowa, just happened to be what I was wearing that day), and I was the victim of a drive-by harassing. Couple of ISU fans drove by and yelled something anti-Iowa at me... probally confused they when I yelled in agreement (took me a minute to remember I wasn't wearing Cyclone gear and I wasn't in Cyclone country)

I still think it's funny that the one person they harassed in Iowa City was actually a Cyclone fan  Oh well A for effort right?

Actually a while back I was in Iowa City/Coralville wearing my ISU shirt the day after the UNI loss in football and no one said a word to me. I was pretty impressed that no one ribbed me.

Hey i was thinking. If the hawks would get one point for every arrest of there football players they would have been close in the cy-hawk series.
