Re: Rashad Vaughn

Per Travis Hines on Twitter, there was a question last night about Rashad Vaughn on the CourtCYd show last night.
Does anyone know what was asked and how Fred answered? Obviously he can't say anything about recruits so maybe he just side stepped the question.

Who is the idiot who is asking Fred questions about recruits? Are people trying to get Fred to slip up and get into trouble? Luckily John is pretty good about intercepting those questions and reminding Fred or Paul that they cannot comment on an unsigned recruit.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I think it would be great if he showed up at the game tomorrow night..... With a sign that gave his top 5 and sit right behind the Baylor bench glaring at Scott.

I would love to see the vine of Drew getting Vaughn's sign of himself getting taken away.

Fred didn't need John to remind him. He just said he couldn't comment on recruits, but he appreciated the question.

What's funny is before the Vaughn question, hr asked Fred to give details on how they were going to defend Baylor. Of course Fred wasn't willing to give the details of the game plan right before the game. So basically it was the biggest fail of a phone call ever. Actually, now that I think about it, maybe it was Scott Drew calling in...

I love Fred...he actually responded and said something along the lines of "I can't really comment as I think Scott listens to this show." :spinny:

I LOVE Fred's humor...he really is funny/sarcastic. I have seen him "off the record" speak a few times and he really does rib his guys/others. I loved on the call in show last night (I watched on Cyclones.tv) when asked about the toughest places he played/coached and he listed some off then said "and K-State is getting pretty loud...what do they call it the 'octagon of doom?'" and when he said it you could see/sense the sarcasm.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

BTW, CFH's stock continues to rise. The recruiting pitch gets easier each year. He keeps showing no matter who you are, if you come here he'll find a way to make you shine (see the multiple Big 12 POW awards)....hopefully the Vaughn's of the world will start seeing how much a very talented person would be absolutely highlighted...and likely be on a top 15 team, too!

From the State Center banquet this year as Ellerman was giving out a door prize, Fred says "hey Tyler, how about a little hustle". Excellent in the moment comment.

I was at a lunch he spoke at and there was a raffle and they had some random cyclone gear. There was an older shooting shirt that was Tyray Pearson's. They did the drawing before CFH got up to speak. His first words as he took the stage were, "Man, I wish I would have bought a raffle ticket, would have loved to get a Tyray Pearson shooting shirt."

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I noticed while trolling phog.net that Rashad has made the McDonald's Farm Team All American nominees list.

(On a side note, why does Iowa have so many nominees?)

I.don't follow Iowa hs sports as much lately, but there's a few names that are pretty laughable on there. Looks like everyone just nominated their leading scorer.

Anyone know anything about the Lazard kid from Urbandale? :jimlad:

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Guy I know refs women's college basketball, and some high school basketball games. He refed a game that Lazard was playing in, said it was no contest. The only man on the court. As good or better than he is a football player.

One of the better players in the state. Not saying much though. Could probably walk on similar to Bubu.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Wanted:
One 6'4" to 6'6" PG/SG combo dude who can come in and play like a grown *** man for the entire season. The preferred applicant will get to handle the ball a crap ton, play awesome defense, high five the crowd a lot, and absolutely punk top 10 teams on national television. Unfortunately the bar for this type of player is currently being set extremely high, but if you're only a freshman we'll work with you.

Please contact Fred Hoiberg if interested, I think you have his number.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

So.... Mr. Vaughn. Here's the deal....

ISU is much closer to home than KU, UNC, and UNLV. We have the best coach to play for by far in Fred Hoiberg. We play the style of ball you want to play. Hilton Coliseum rocks.

And..... we're better than all of those teams too by FAR. I guess I don't understand what makes the decision so hard?
