Re: Rashad Vaughn

Is Thomas going to be like Ejim where every year people are saying he's not going start the next season and every year he does? It sure seems like it.

Or... He is the least impactful player in the starting lineup only losing his spot to a 1 and done. Not sure why that seems inconceivable.

I don't think many people said that Ejim wouldn't start his junior year. Nobody doubted he would start his senior year. That being said, Thomas needs to start stepping up. He hasn't played well against good competition. Hopefully he can. But no way with Hogue, Nader, and Niang being obvious starters, with Vaughn, Monte is the other starter. Fred obviously believes in him and knows he's got the talent, but he needs to gain some confidence and find himself at the collegiate level.

to me Fred has been trying like when he had Thomas shoot the free throws for Kane despite not shooting all that well in games so far. No doubt Thomas will be a great player but if Vaughn is as good as advertised, he has to start and SG seems most logical. I can't see sitting Hogue...

12pts, 6 Rebs vs BYU. On the road. As a freshman. He has been good already, and will get better. Yesterday was about match ups.

And then there is these
UNI: 7 points
Mich: 2 points
Nobody is saying Thomas is bad, but if I had a choice in keeping Hogue on the floor or Thomas, it's a no brainier. Especially since he is the worst defender of the guards we play. Once he starts handling the speed of the game better and has more confidence in his shot, things will be good. Just not there yet.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Isn't this a Rashad Vaugh thread, not a "is Matt Thomas a good player?" thread?

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Baylor is definately getting cut. No idea on the others but I think he'll keep Minnesota till the end just like Barnes did with ISU.

My guess is he will do like when he cut his list to 10 he included 10 and minnesota (so 11 in his top 10) because "they are my home state school, they will always be on my list". Just like his 7 became 8 with kentucky back in. I wouldnt be surprised if we lose only 2 which I think would be arizona, baylor.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Matt Thomas is a freshman guard playing against seasoned, veteran players and is still playing well, not making any mistakes and people want to dismiss him as a starter. Seriously? He has not made any bad mistakes, plays within himself, and knows his roll. Would you be happier if Thomas just jacked up 3's every chance he got? He's had great shot selection, rebounds well for being a 2 guard, and doesn't turn the ball over. He is going to be a great, great player for us. Let the kid develop, he's only played in 8 games his whole collegiate career.

Picking a fight against no one here. If Vaughn comes here, who doe he start in front of Hogue or Thomas? Or are you crazy enough to think a one and done comes off the bench?

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I think unlv gets cut along with baylor... no info just a guess. My prediction is
ISU
MINNESOTA
KENTUCKY
KANSAS
UNC
If kansas remains in there I would be very wary of them. No one believed wiggins was going anywhere but ky or fl state then bill self and ku showed up. Well the rest his history. Phog allen has a great gameday atmasphere ad well. Self is also a proven coach.
I have no inside information just a gut feeling.

You better buy some pepto because something is terribly wrong with your gut if you think he is cutting the school closest to where he lives right now and a for sure top 2 school in his recruitment.

If I recall correctly, Hines at the Tribune tweeted this:

Vaughn
Thomas
Hogue
Georges
McKay

Starting line-up is not important, but RV is a 100% lock to start and play over 30 minutes a game. That is one of our main advantages.
