Re: Rashad Vaughn

Goodluck Okonoboh was 100% IU in July. Those predictions are pretty much baseless until the night/week before announcements. Everyone knows ISU is a contender. They've been loyal, consistent and have all the reasons to be considered a general consensus leader at this point.
Yep, Vaughn might be waiting on his briefcase from unlv before deciding.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Well after our rashaad Crystal Ball run was broken the other day with a string of 3 non-ISU picks following Goodlucks pick to UNLV we now have 2 new ISU picks including a gopher report defection.

The Gopher switched it up again. UNLV now. Seems we are losing steam with the insiders since the Goodluck commit. Has Vaughn said anything since the commit, or is the UNLV momentum coming solely off the Goodluck commit?

My guess is that it is about as informed as most of our opinions. I'm just glad we are getting an official. The atmosphere should be nuts for that game.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Our selling point is and has always been Hoiberg. I'm wondering what UNLV's is? I'm not trying to be snarky here, I'm just wondering what it is that would make Vaughn to commit to UNLV? Is it the talent they're getting? They are getting a lot of talent, but if that's what he is looking for then I would think North Carolina or Kansas would have UNLV beat in those categories

I think the experts are guessing what is in a guys head relative to any new development. UNLV's biggest hurdle is the league they play in.

Unlv:
+His dad likes their coach.
+His mentor would be in town.
+Good talent without taking his buckets
+produced #1 draft pick last year
+good match style wise
+ would be the man
+good fan support
+weather
+comfort/familiarity w/Vegas
ISU:
+His mom likes Hoiberg.
+He seems to have the best relationship with Hoiberg.
+Hoiberg has known connections with NBA GMs.
+His mom and dad could watch him play in Ames.
+good match style wise
+good veteran supporting cast
+ would be the man
+Hilton Magic
+Better exposure in Big 12.
+Easy to drive home for a weekend.

This would be my pro's and cons list both schools seem to be what he is looking for and couldn't think of any major con with either.

Edit: Also should note both have decent (percieved at least) history of developing players....added comfort factors for both schools.

Who knows what a 17 year old is thinking. He's said he's liked the same thing about every program that's interested in him.

I think this is a pretty reasonable assessment. Only nitpitcks I question are the '+Good talent without taking his buckets' for UNLV. Seems reasonable for Okonobah but I guess 5* SF Morgan is going to want to take his share of the shots.

Also, I would add a major + for UNLV of he'll already be in LV so there area we'll be familiar to him. That's likely one of their biggest advantages IMO.

Good point on the comfort factor of vegas. I added that and the comfort factor of being able to go home to minny for a weekend to our list.

Only thing I would add is Fred's offense. He knows how to create an offense to feature his team's talents, and he knows how to score buckets.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Anyone think things shift back in our favor if we get the nod from Cunningham (sp)?

I don't usually think that fans influence a kid's recruiting much, but I honestly think the reception RV gets during the Michigan game (as well as the atmosphere as a whole) can swing RV.

True, was considering that under style. Some like that one are plusses to both team with an edge to us.
