Re: Rashad Vaughn

If he doesn't come it takes about 13.2 seconds to change an avatar. He'd be the best pull in program history; I look at 3300 posts on one recruit as evidence of the support for the program. The melt down won't be bad over this, it started off as a long shot that Fred has made a reality. Sure there will be disappointment but he won't make or break our program, he would certainly improve it though.

Yeah it would be. Nobody will be calling for Hoiberg's head, but there would be people bashing Vaughn and probably Matt A. He seems to be the punching bag when recruiting doesn't go our way.

I really don't think so. I don't think there would be a blame game. There would be plenty of rationalization- UNLV must have paid Rashad, or Minnesota must have paid Rashad, or that his handlers are misleading him. But I don't think Fred or Matt A. would be criticized

I don't defend stupid people or there will be some meltdown, but this isn't like losing to UNI

Re: Rashad Vaughn

While I agree that UNLV is a big player in the RV sweepstakes, the school I am still most concerned about is KU. I would not be surprised in the least if RV ends up at Kansas. As to the meltdown that would ensue if RV does not choose ISU, I think it would be a bigger meltdown if his final choice is KU vs. UNLV (IMHO).

Re: Rashad Vaughn

pretty much the reason why I don't have an RV avatar. Good player, don't get me wrong, but I'd have an avatar of Ellerman over Vaughn just because he plays at ISU and RV might not.

If no Cunningham or RV, guessing Hoiberg will get 1 JUCO and 1 transfer. probably a post to replace Ejim in a JUCO for depth

The posters that didn't have an RV avatar will be the first ones against the wall the day after he signs with someone else (if that is what ends up happening). Think about that before you type many more excuses. CF posters will remember.

That'd be idiotic, he is a top 10 player in the country and he is also a 17-18 year old kid. A coach can recruit all he wants but in the end its the kids decision and nobody can really predict what a 17 year old player wants to do or whats best for him. If he thinks UNLV is the best school for him, and where he feels most comfortable and can succeed as a player then I wish him all the best. Too bash a recruit or one of our coaches and to meltdown over it is ridiculously stupid.

Would you still feel that way if he signs with Baylor?

That's the only school on his list that would give me heartburn if he choses someone else over us.

I'm not sure if I would rather Baylor than KU it's pretty close, but Baylor has still never won in Ames.

Baylor, yes I would be a little more upset. Kansas not so much. Bill Self is an incredible coach and KU has such a rich history it'd be pretty hard to turn those things away.

Some blue chip prospect is going to go to KU and blow up. Might as well be Vaughn if he doesn't go here. At Baylor they will get a decent recruit at that spot if Vaughn doesn't go there, but he won't be close to Vaugn's level.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I've heard from several people Vegas sucks if you aren't 21.

Yes it does. Plus its not like usual college towns where you go to a bar with $30 and can get hammered. When I was in Vegas cover for clubs and bars was like $40-50 alone, add in the fact that a beer is $15 and its not very ideal for a college student. Head over to Fremont street but thats not that exciting in my opinion. The UNLV campus is pretty crappy too. Lets add in the fact that their academics are a joke (not that it matters too much bc he will be a one and done anyways).

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Kelly Oubre tweeted that big news is coming tomorrow. I strongly doubt that it is about Vaughn at all, but if it's his commitment, it is between Kansas and Kentucky. It looks like on the inter webs it show Kansas as the leader and he just went on a visit there. That would be great for the Cyclones and hopefully will eliminate KU from the Vaughn sweepstakes.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

One would think Oubre going to KU wouldn't help their chances with him but they are teammates at Findley now. Don't want to cheer for KU to get a 5* recruit today if it isn't going to benefit us
