Re: Rashad Vaughn

We'd like to think that happens. But...

If that's the criterion for prominence, then players would go to the worst school. Why go to UNC if you could go to ISU? Why go to ISU if you could go to Iowa? Why go to Iowa if you could go to UNI? Why go to UNI if you can go to Drake?

I agree. If being on a team filled with the top teams keeps guys from getting drafted, then UNC and Kentucky probably wouldn't have so many years with multiple first round picks.

Talent gets noticed wherever it is and whoever surrounds it. That won't be an issue for Vaughn wherever he goes.

Does anyone know the minutia of the "one and done" NBA rule? Does a player have to have a year of education after high school, or does he have to be on an NCAA roster? Can he play at a JUCO or D2/3 school, or does it have to be D1?

The reason I ask is because I'm wondering why one-and-dones don't just take the easiest possible route to the NBA...if they're already NBA-caliber out of high school, wouldn't it be to their benefit to play as little as possible (or not at all) at the college level and avoid threatening their pro career with an injury?

I'm pretty sure that it's just one year out of high school.
Didn't Brandon Jennings take the gamble of going oversees instead of college?

As for picking a juco or low-division school, the player would miss out on the fame-building brand-enhancing notoriety that comes from playing in DI. That's why they choose to go that route.

I agree...but does the same player get more fame-building brand-enhancing notoriety by sitting on the bench at Kentucky or by starring at, say, Washington State?

Ask Daniel Orton.
Affiliation with a big name seems to carry a lot of weight.

Logically, I think starring at another school should carry the weight. Practically, they find talent wherever it is anyway, so it doesn't seem to matter.

If "they find talent wherever it is anyway", does it matter if Orton sits on the bench at Kentucky or plays 40 mpg at Emmaus Bible College?

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Realistically if RV called Roy today, there would be a 100% chance that they would take him.

What will hopefully be enough to sway him to us, will be: Fred, Hilton, proximity to Minneapolis, he could be a big focus for our team/offense, and style of play

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Maybe if Michael Jordan went to ISU he would be drafted higher.
