If you were my neighbor I'd tell you that if you don't like the way my property looks in my yard (on my side of the property line, on my lot) quit looking into my yard and mind your own business.

Are you bringing your Rottweiler Cael with you?

i love all the cute sarcasm, so adorable.

anyway, i never said i was gonna call the city on them or anything. I haven't called the city on my other neighbor who won't trim the 8ft hedges that have grown over half the sidewalk.

i don't have kids and so for me it's only a huge trashy eyesore. but their neighbors do have 3 kids all under the age of 12.

i was mostly just curious is all.

ISU BET can take care of that for you:jimlad:

all web forums eventially turn into this, it will only get worse. everyone thinks their sarcastic trolling is hilarious.

I don't think it's trolling. It's just people's way of humorously telling the OP that he needs to get over it. His neighbors wanted to put in an above-ground pool to give the kids something to do on hot summer afternoons. I can understand if there were small kids in the house and the concern was for their safety. But to be worried about it being an eyesore is being petty.

I spent $4K on a 6ft fence this spring and it's well worth the price. Last year was complete hell once the kids were out of school. This year I hardly notice them.

christ, when did you people all get so pissy on this site?

Sorry, just don't understand the mentality behind people thinking they should be able to tell their neighbors what to do with their property simply because they personally don't like the way something in their neighbor's yard looks. I don't believe it is the homeowner's responsibility to make their property aesthetically pleasing to match whatever their neighbors' tastes are.

I prefer live and let live, could never imagine trying to see if I can get my neighbor to build a fence simply because I don't find something in his yard pleasing to my own eye.

I'm on the other side, I live in an area where there are specific rules and I like them. No, I didn't like paying $100 for a basic black mailbox but when I drive down other neighborhoods and see what some idiots do with their homes it makes me happy I live in an area that has rules. I also like it that you can't put up a $10 chain link fence in front of a $400K house. If you want the freedom to make your house look like **** than move out in the country where you have no neighbors.

We have a hot tub on our back deck. No way will I build a fence just because I have it. It has a cover that can be locked.

Big difference. I'd say 99% of the people are fine with their neighbors having a hot tub. I'd say the privacy issue would be more on your side.

Was it made of gold? How long of a fence was it that you hit 4k?

I agree in principal, but if there is a law, was it passed after he put in the pool? If not, well, that's his fault.

I'm sure the neighbor husbands like the fact that I have no fence. My wife is a tall blonde with lots of Norwegian blood running through her.
