Has anyone heard if any of the players are sticking around Ames in the summer and working out?

Pretty sure most - if not all - will, as practice is going to start in the summer. At the NCAA level I would not want to be out of shape going into two-a-days in the middle of the summer...

I will say that prolly 95% of the team will stay and work out with the S&C staff. On top of that the players have 7 on 7 drills usually twice a week (coaches not allowed to be at these per NCAA rules). So if you don't stay in town you actually miss out on a lot of workouts.

Maybe the bball tream should also do as much in order to build up for the running game that McD plans for next season.

The 7 on 7 drills should be where the offense makes the most strides as they will get rep after rep in the new scheme. I have a feeling the offense we see on September 3rd will be much more efficient than what we saw on Saturday.

95% of them will be in Ames this summer as well, along with most of the other athletes from every sport.

I appreciate the info, and I knew about the NCAA rules regarding the coaches.

I guess I should have added, what are the players' attitude right now? I know I have said that the players haven't received great coaching the last few years, but at some point, the players have to take ownership and have a little pride. I would get tired of hearing all the crap from people and would want to go out and do something about it.

I hear that they will have workouts every week this summer just like Chizik had with his program last year. Old Coach Mac used to give the team a whole month off from workouts, but with a new staff you really can't afford to lose any time. Talking to one of the Defensive Tackles, I hear that they like Rhoad's style a lot better. He is less "strict" and more of a down to earth Coach. They are continuing workouts until the end of the semester also.

From what I've heard, Rhoads is probably more strict (and DEFINITELY more vocal) in practice than Chiz, but is a lot more laid back outside of the practice setting.

On a related topic where the heck did 33 go, he said he was going away for a few weeks. He should be back. If CPR told him to cease, he should return as 22 and no one would know.

33's info was going to dry up sooner or later. He is an ex-player who was still close to some of last year's players. I'm pretty sure that some of the guys who he was closest to have since moved on.
