Sure, a team that shoots 34% from three for the season, goes off for 58% against us. Yes, several were open shots but most were not. Meanwhile, we can't hit our open threes. Such is life as a Cyclone.
The horrendous defense that was on display last night against Ole Miss is why they shot like that. I knew that version of Iowa State was going to show up. By the way, if anyone finds Milan get him directions back to Ames. Milan pulled a hat trick, "He put it on a disappeared."

“We” don’t need money. Iowa State is asking for *our* money so *they* can live as kings for four years and still lose in blowouts. Whether you think that’s money well spent is up to you
My man doesn’t even know the definition of collective. We Will is a separate organization until this summer.

To add to my earlier thoughts, I think if we had had Keshon or just one more effective guard to step in for him, I think we would have gone small to counter what they were doing. I think the game plan was sound. Pound them inside until they were forced to collapse, then play inside out once they do, then go small to counter them as a third option. Just didn't have the horses for that last option.

Yeah, CW just isn't really ever going to ruffle any feathers in anything that could be conceived as negative towards a coach.

He overcompensates to the positive since he doesn't want to seem biased due to running a fan site/company. The reality is he'd have a lot more listeners if he let loose once in a while or at least had a reporter on staff that would.
I don’t think there’s any reason for him to be negative towards the coach anyway. TJ isn’t the one out there missing shots

Iowa State has to get more athletic across the board, especially the big men. Also, ISU needs to find another option for the pg position. Lipsey will never be 100% healthy and they will need another ball handler next year.

Sad that the season is over.
The finality of not seeing the 3 players who won't be back in Cyclone uniforms next year is a big part of it.
Life goes on.
Looking forward to warmer weather!

Just feels like we were sold a false bill of goods this season. Success sucks when you don't live up to expectations.

It's weird thinking back because even when we were winning it was like "we aren't playing up to our potential and just wait until it's all clicking". Then it never really clicked, and I think you realize that those games in December probably were their full potential.

Ole Miss is a good team, and it’s the NCAA Tournament.

It’s one thing to lose a hard fought game in the second round.

But getting run out of the gym like that was a hard pill to swallow.

I think the only false expectation was that with losing Keshon and having Lipsey only at 50% that we still had a shot at a deep run. The team that played in Maui was legit. The injury bug killed the season potential, and that sucks.

It's worked for TJ too. Many ignore the fact TJ has already done a lot of unprecedented things at ISU in 4 years because we haven't made the final four yet. I'm not sure what has gotten us so spoiled before we've ever arrived.

I don't feel Cyclone fans are any different than any other fan base. Spoiled may be accurate, but without getting to philosophical, IMO it's a character flaw in our sports culture. Preseason rankings tell us how great our team is going to be. ESPN is jamming the Lunardi brackets down our throats in December. There are early season watch-lists. Contrived analytics provide "infalllible" metrics to determine achievement like NET rankings and Quad wins.

As fans the marketing machine of sport has shifted fans from focusing on winning the next game.

The reality is this team was awesome in Nov/Dec and early January. It was a .500 team the last 2 months. That was pretty clear regardless of rankings, NET, quad wins or seed. Not hard to see if fans focused on games.

Time to get off my high horse!

Injuries were definitely an issue. Gilbert was a unique talent on this roster- above average on offense & defense. His absence dropped our offense a notch. But IMO his absence dropped our defense a couple notches.

But TJ's interview post-game was interesting in his wording. I'd have to go back and listen again, but I think he mentioned a couple times in his reasoning for our struggles "injuries AND distractions". Was TJ saying injuries created a distraction? Or was he saying we faced 2 distinct obstactles to winning.
