ISU isn’t getting a Power 5 head coach and I doubt a mid-major coach is going to want oversee a rebuild against Self, Kruger, Huggins, Drew, Dixon, Smart, Beard, and Weber—-all of whom have made the Elite Eight and have over 4,000 wins combined.

Thad Matta, Thad Matta, and That Matta are my top 3 choices.

You think I’m a T.J. guy but I’m not. I would be fine with him but I would also be okay with Craig Smith, Medved, DeVries, Nagy, Keller and Golding if we go the route of mid-major head coaches.
You know what none of the guys on that list did; get fired at a mid-major job.
Check out every coach in a Power 5 job. These don’t have “fired from a mid-major job” on their resume. Elite coaches (and that is what is needed in the Big 12) don’t get fired at a mid-major. And if Moser is such a coaching stud then why hasn’t anyone hired him in the last 4 years.
I’m a Dana Altman guy. Go pay him 3.3 million and assure that your program
Will be in the NCAA Tournament 8 out of the next 11 years.

Who is this Golding you write of?

It's been a brutal season, but the fact that we are still living rent free with kusports.com's resident psychopath is still good for a laugh:

"Bryce Landon 11 hours, 29 minutes ago
These last three days have been the best sports days of 2021 for me. As the world's biggest Iowa State hater, I am so proud of the Jayhawks for defeating the Cry-Clowns twice in crushing fashion. The win in Lawrence was a work of art, but the win in Ames was more satisfying, for two reasons:
1) After spending most of the first half giving ISU false hope of getting a victory, we then proceeded to rip their hearts out and show them to them the rest of the way.
2) As someone who lives in Iowa and has some neighbors and a brother-in-law who are Cry-Clown fans, I've got bragging rights on them in basketball until next winter!
Watching Iowa State stumble and bumble through this season gives me a deep sense of schadenfreude. I hope they lose the rest of their games and finish winless in Big 12 play.
ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK! SCREW ISU!"
Such a proud fan of a CHEATING program.

This. Fran Fraschilla was the only person associated with that game yesterday who thought the outcome would be different. The only thing ISU fans thought would be different was the final score would look worse that it did. KU sleepwalks through the game and this guy is excited....only KU fans would carry around this much butthurt from our Big 12 tourney wins, which is really odd because I've had dozens of them tell me they don't care about it when we're down there.

But even Fran said he couldn't see us making up a 10 point deficit in the last few minutes.

If TJ is the choice he would be wise to add Naz to his staff. I believe his NBA chances are dwindling and so far he has shown no desire to go to Europe. I think Naz would bring significant value to the staff culturally and by recruiting Canada.

TJ recruited Naz and was on the staff for 3 of his 5 years at ISU so a relationship should already by established.

Naz is in a weird spot because he's a top 20 g league player but his age and upside make him not the preferred taxi squad guy. He's playing pretty well in the g league this year.

I just used T.J. as the example because it seems when anyone says "hard pass" on him you ask who would be better. And here we are debating the issue.

As for the "fired from a mid major"...........he had 1 winning season out of 4, GMAC had 0 winning out of 4. One resigned the other was fired. Doesn't make GMAC a better coach. And it doesn't matter at what level GMAC coughed up the goose egg. Moser can trump any of that with a final four in THE tourney. Considering how few of those there are I think an AD can look past......his past.

And if now the mark is an "elite" coach.....then you can scratch Smith, Medved, DeVries, Nagy, Keller, Golding and T.J. along with Moser. I don't think we need an "elite" coach. Fred wasn't. My choice right now would be Travis Ford if he would be interested. Probably be cheaper than Altman. He knows how to head coach in this conference better than any of who we have listed. He can recruit just as well/better at this level......and maybe like GMAC who deep sixed ISU but is now doing well at Creighton....all Ford needs is a chance at a different venue.

When head coaching searches come up, it always seems like there is a group of fans who think ISU fans only want a coach who plays an exciting offensive style.

I understand why some people feel that way because two of ISU's most successful and beloved coaches ARE Johnny Orr and Fred Hoiberg. But I guarantee if Bo Ryan was hired after Tim Floyd and had similar success to that at Wisky- Cyclone fans love defensive basketball! Same goes for Virginia.

That said, it isn't an either or situation. Great teams play great offense and great defense. Look around the Big 12- KU, WVU, TT and Baylor all play great defense and play an exciting style of offense. In fact, a lot of times playing great defense leads to turnovers which leads to fast break points.

IMO our next coach should bring a focus on defense, toughness, rebounding and a fun offense to watch.

Agree wholeheartedly, we leveraged the niche transfer market, with high level talent and make an impact playing the pace and space game. Times have changed, just not sure we can recruit the horses to out gun people. We’ve lacked toughness, rebounding for years, would be nice to have that emphasized from a new staff.
