Dickinson is in his 2nd year at KU. He averaged 17.9 ppg, 10.9 rpg and 1.4 blocks last year. Was in POY conversation and 2nd team all-American. Mayo is good. Kevin McCullar was really good, but got hurt.

I'm not ready to say that Self has lost it. With the right draw they could be s sweet 16 team. Or a 1st round upset victim.
AGREE! I expect that team to be a second weekend team in March. At minimum.

Just saying he is similar in that he also has a limited skillset. Very good on offense, but can be taken away if you decide to due to his immobility and his lack of mobility on defense also creates a vulnerability for them.
Brandt Chatfield will be very proud when his son Hunter Dickinson makes the honorable mention All-Big 12 team.

Something that has surprised me about KU - how have they not recruited over Dejaun Harris? Guy is scared to shoot all he does is dribble. It just blows my mind he has been there for so long and not been recruited over.
My quick glance at the KU boards and the fans are certainly over him. I’ll never understand how a D1 guard who has played 4 years can’t shoot.

KU's last 8 years or so have been weird. You throw away the COVID year because there obviously wasn't a tournament (I think they win it that year btw). Recently, they're either making the Final Four or they're losing second round.

2023-2024: 2nd Round Loss
2022-2023: 2nd Round Loss
2021-2022: National Champions
2020-2021: 2nd Round Loss
2019-2021: COVID
2018-2019: 2nd Round Loss
2017-2018: Final Four

It's the almost 5:1 A:TO. He just flat doesn't get you beat and is a really good defender
I respect Harris more than most Jayhawks. He's one of their few players that seem to be more about substance than style.
It is striking to me that he and Lipsey have the same role for their teams, but Tamin has made himself an opportunistic shooter. The lack of development from Harris is in pretty stark contrast.
Usually you could count on KU players making huge jumps from one year to the next, but I'm not sure any of their multi-year guys have improved at all over the last few years.

What I see is ever since everyone started being able to pay their players full salaries above-water, KU is just another Top 25 team most of the time.

Just read some mid season thing on espn and they have Hunter Dickinson as a second team all American. Hahaha. Is it required that they have a Kansas player somewhere on that list or something? That kid is so soft. Jackson destroyed him last night

As talent trends a little more even, the impact of coaching (development, schemes), roster construction, and culture increase. Self is a great coach, but roster construction and culture deficiencies might be helping close or reverse gaps with other teams.

It is a little shocking how few shooters they have. Looks like our team tj first and second year in some ways

Dishon and Brandt little-brother'd him very badly, Jackson just took it at him on offense and he wanted no part of it, and Brandt did a great job of not letting him get to the spots he wanted to get to. They were both just too physical for him.

What's impressive with Jones is he didn't seem to get flustered when KU took him out in the 2nd half and still found other ways to get involved.

And then that last three looked like a quiet message.
One last reminder that you can delay it, you can try to prevent it, but you cannot stop Jones from getting his share. Curt is an unstoppable force.

Not to get ahead of myself but I'm was just thinking about how next year we will have Jefferson, Jackson, Milan, Watson and Rock as a front court. If Curt gets to come back, that team is scary.
Having a sophomore Indrusaitis to pair with the incoming recruits also make for a really good backcourt too. And i dont believe Lipsey is going anywhere either

Huh? Dickinson was supposed to be a great offensive piece. A 7 footer who can play inside and outside. I was surprised he didn't attempt any 3's last night.
He took one early and missed it badly, then passed up other open looks.

He's 6-26 from deep on the season, including 0-8 in their last 6 games.

Maybe even more shockingly - he hasn't attempted a FT in the entire last 2 games.
