True and I wouldn't compare the racism allegations to screaming at players during a game. But part of the press conference covered his aggressive treatment of players and Bill was pretty defensive about it and basically said he wasn't going to change. He might want to put himself in the place of an 18-22 year old player who already feels bad about messing up, then gets more publicly embarrassed by getting screamed at by her coach in front of her family, friends, and thousands of people at the game and watching on tv. I wouldn't call it bullying but some sensitive types might, and Bill himself seems pretty sensitive. Just think it would be a good idea for Bill to take a good look at that part of his coaching style.

Totally agree and great coaches in all sports can always evolve. I am a huge fan of soccer since the 80s and alex Ferguson, who is one of the most successful managers of all time explained that he changed his ways in dealing with players to adjust to different generations. And there are different ways of being demanding too.

Having just sat through discrimination litigousy training with our attorneys this weekend, I feel sorry for what's about to come for BF.

THINK YOU MEAN "LITIGIOUS" - AND WITH THE ISU LEGAL TEAM ON HIS SIDE AS IT LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE I WOULD BE SURPRISED IF THIS ISNT TOSSED IN 2-3 DAYS. SOUNDS LIKE A DESPERATE ACT BY A FAILED DIVA WHO HAS NO WNBA PROSPECTS AND MAY HAVE TO WORK HER WHOLE LIFE.

Isn't this a classic case of "he said, she said"?

Unless there are witnesses willing to step forward on either side, I don't know how either side can prove whether or not Bill actually said the things he is being accused of?

I would hope Bill or ISU wouldn't have to "settle" this outside of court based on just an accusation.

I think Cole already stated that the events involving here weren't true and Brynn already expressed some kind of support too although her mom was not too happy with BF apparently.

Another reason that Fennelly may have come out and said "I wouldn't change a thing" is because saying anything like "there are a few things I would have done differently" would have been essentially an admission of guilt and liability.

Three thing that would have the defendants looking to settle.

1. They know they are guilty - don't believe this to be the case in this one.

2. Save on costs - don't see this either with the university and state involved.

3. Don't want certain dirty laundry aired - this is more likely and may not happen until depositions are well underway.

It will still be weighed on risk versus reward when the time comes.

The Moody case is not a good thing. But IMO, she does not have a real case to win. Anyone can pretty much file a civil case. Tougher to actually win it. The one former Cyclone who has written a letter in support of Nikki Moody, attended Iowa State when Fennelly first came. She is a white player. She said that Bill would yell and berate her. That is the way Bill coaches. But that is not racial discrimination. Krzyzewski, Calipari, Martin, etc. are all screamers. Many old style coaches are.

IMO, this is a bit of revenge for Nikki Moody. She does not like Fennelly and she is getting back at him with this lawsuit. Jessica Schroll, another white player, could probably tell Moody that is just the way Bill is. Has nothing to do with race. Schroll was ridden pretty hard by Fennelly and finally transferred.

In this article that talks about Jessica Schroll, Chelsea Poppens says that a person needs to have a thick skin to play at Iowa State and some people do not deal with it well. Nikki Moody appears to be an example as well.

That old article is a bit of a fluff piece. A lot of people were upset with Bill at the time. Missing from the article was her saying that someone "needed to take a stand" and by stand it was a stand against his abusive coaching style. After her mid-season announcement and a talk with the AD he did mellow some, at least by appearances during games.

The article implies she wasn't "tough enough". Along with Poppens she was probably one of the toughest on court players we have ever had.

Cheyenne was not working, she was Cuban.

Furthermore, Nikki didn't complain about his hard coaching style, but that he treated white players differently, and used derogatory language in reference to blacks, whether that's true, who knows.

Being a hard *** coach is not unlawful. Seems Fennelly is a hard *** to white, black, and Hispanic ballplayers alike. That is not a basis for a "racial discrimination" lawsuit. Bobby Knight was fired from Indiana for choking Neil Reed in a practice. A video tape from that practice substantiated the claim. Lots of old school coaches yell and curse, sometimes at their players. Doesn't make it right. But if it is not discriminatory towards them I do not see how a person can make a charge of "racial discrimination".

A friend of mine who goes to Women's games thought that Bill was overly critical of Jessica Schroll. I thought Schroll was a good player. Seems that Bill can be a hard *** coach. As I said, the Jessica Schroll situation makes it appear that "race" is not a factor. Bill is just a hard ***.

What happens if the state wants to settle, but Iowa State and CBF doesn't?

Do lawyer fees to for BF come out of the general athletic budget?

Not sure. Iowa State University is being sued. The State of Iowa as well. It could come out of the General Budget.

Honestly, IMO, it looks like a money grab lawsuit. Nikki Moody sues after her WNBA career dries up. She stayed at Iowa State the whole time. She was at Iowa State for 4 years. Teammates have stated publicly that Nikki Moody did have an attitude problem. Hell, Coach Prohm sat Jameel McKay down for some games because of his attitude. Should he sue and claim it was "racial discrimination"?

Did Bill call her a thug? That would be important...

is thug the new n word? So I can't use thug anymore or I am a racist? People already look badly at me when I use the r word.

Can I still call someone a hoodlum or a hooligan? I mean they are offshoots of thug so are they racist too?

No, it doesn't matter how you or I use the word. The question would be, did BF himself call any white players "thugs." ISU and coach had better be able to say yes, with verification...
