In this podcast, Jamie mentions that the first phase of CyTown was approved by the BoR last week, and will begin utility work after the football season.

Any guesses who the "couple" of anchor tenants are that have signed on to CyTown so far?

Rumors about 6 months ago were a certain brewery in NE Iowa. But that rumor seems to have lost steam

Yeah I think that location will be closer to Des Moines

That would make sense. Perhaps close the location on Duff?
Honestly could do better business near the Iowa State Center, especially on game days. I think they took away that tent last season that was in front of the Olsen building before, no?

They still had the Cy's locker room trailers on the South side of the stadium for every game, never got over to the North side to see if the tent was still there or no.

They still had the tent there, first one across the street from the stadium.

Cy's Locker Room makes sense.

They have also been on Duff for 11 years. Likely 4 years remaining on their current lease. That could time up well for CyTown's development.

You would have to think a sports bar chain restaurant like Bar Louie would have interest.

The key to all of this would be getting a hotel flag to commit to the project. If Marriott, Hilton or IHG signed on. This development would be a go IMO.

I would hope Cy's Locker room isnt the biggest name tennant but something that would attract visitors on gameday and the other 359 days of the year. Does Ames have a Dicks or Scheels? Tailgating supplies and sports wear would be a good fit, maybe like a sized down version.
A bar/restaurant (or two) is a given. And I could see a Smash Park type of concept working there, its basically a giant beer hall with tailgate games, sounds fun af.
Legion of bouncers keeping out the underage students will be interesting...

That brewery (Toppling Goliath) is either going here or DSM. I have some sources on that. Pollard (and ISU) have flown to Decorah for meetings about it.
Rumor may be losing some steam because my source has also said TG is looking at a PNW site in Oregon or Washington.

Ames had a Sports Authority kind of by Target that didn't last long. It then became a pet store.

I wouldn't put that loss on Ames though, Sports Authority had financial issues.
