I think JP said from the start it would be not just bars, restaurants, and entertainment. There will be other types of businesses, which also helps bring customers towards said bars/restaurants.

I almost feel like they missed an opportunity to make this two sets of Trice Stripes.

Is it too late? I don't think the stripes were on the drawings for the new Sports Performance Center either.

It's a damn shame they didn't put up a construction camera so we could analyze every movement of the construction process. Hopefully they will put one up when they begin the new hotel.
I just hope their isn't any sod involved!

Des Moines, Ia.
I expect someone will hang a nice banner from that bridge welcoming Hok fans to Ames next year. Something cordial to make them feel welcome.

Perhaps simply proper directions to the stadium for their Band. Which will guarantee they wind up playing at North Grand Mall.

I don’t think that is the same thing as what that other poster was suggesting. I can see some sort of mixed use type of buildings with office or something above the retail. That poster seemed to be suggesting some of the main level tenements would be those types.

Maybe they just weren’t clear and that is what they meant but that wasn’t how I read it.
Pondering here: if this area becomes a commercial hothouse, is it all property tax-free because the university owns the land? Who wouldn’t want that kind of arrangement?

No because it will be leased to the developer.

The way I understand it, the entire thing will be leased out to a developer for a set price for a set contract term. So the University/AD gets its guaranteed pay check, and the developer will have the risk and task of managing the overall property.
