AMES, Iowa – After leading the Iowa State University volleyball program to its third-straight Sweet 16 appearance, head volleyball coach Christy Johnson-Lynch has agreed to a contract extension to continue coaching the Cyclones for the next five years.
Johnson-Lynch's contract, which was extended to December 31, 2014, pays her $130,000 annually and includes a retention payment of $100,000 if she remains at Iowa State through the end of her contract.
Johnson-Lynch was named 2009 Big 12 Coach of the Year and Asics/Volleyball Magazine National Coach of the Year after leading the Cyclones to a 27-5 overall record and a second-place conference finish with a 17-3 record. Both win totals eclipsed the previous school records and Iowa State earned a No. 6 ranking in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
