AMES, Iowa – After leading the Iowa State University volleyball program to its third-straight Sweet 16 appearance, head volleyball coach Christy Johnson-Lynch has agreed to a contract extension to continue coaching the Cyclones for the next five years.

Johnson-Lynch's contract, which was extended to December 31, 2014, pays her $130,000 annually and includes a retention payment of $100,000 if she remains at Iowa State through the end of her contract.

Johnson-Lynch was named 2009 Big 12 Coach of the Year and Asics/Volleyball Magazine National Coach of the Year after leading the Cyclones to a 27-5 overall record and a second-place conference finish with a 17-3 record. Both win totals eclipsed the previous school records and Iowa State earned a No. 6 ranking in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

Just curious, does anyone know where that ranks among other volleyball coaches. I would assume it would be towards the top.

I don't really know that much about the economics of Volleyball coaching...is this a high salary compared to other schools? I mean, I wouldn't expect she's making as much as, for instance, Penn State's head coach, but does anyone have a comparison with other Top 25 programs?

Golly Jamie Pollard clearly does not have a clue to what he is doing :jimlad:.

Fennelly, Christy Johnson, Paul Rhodes.......... Now if McDermott would retain talent we will be set.

perfect example for the the JP haters.... Take off your blinders and realize that ISU is more than just Football and Basketball and realize things like this speak volumes of JP. CJL is a top tier coach and more than likely highly prized and he can keep her around.

good job Mr. Pollard and I am REALLY happy to have CJL around for a while longer

We are very fortunate to have one of the best volleyball coaches in the country. Christy has done an AMAZING job here.

I hope the fans can now do their part and hopefully we can get attendance to around 5000/game consistently to help offset the cost for a non-revenue sport.
