I'm sorry to say it, but there needs to be some questions on Herman as OC

I think that the 'look back' is completely failed for ISU and I would like to see them go back to the huddle and then go up to the line of scrimmage and quickly get the play off. Team are just not fooled by the changes made in the lookback and the defenses are adjusting quickly to the any changes that ISU makes. If they are going to keep the look back, then once in a while go up to the line of scrimmage and run the initial play. With the look back defenses get lots of time to look at the offense, who is on the field, etc., so it is hard to surprise anyone.

Franklin has turned the most bubble screens in to something positive followed by Shontrelle. Money is our best blocker on the perimeter so I bet we rarely see a screen go to him.

Would love to see the ball in Lenz's hands more. He's the one I feel could benefit the most from being in the role Jake Williams was in last year with those screens.

Agree with hawkfan though, we have to throw those screens more often to at least keep the defense honest. If they fail to adjust then one of the screens will break for something big eventually.

This team plays much better at a faster tempo with fewer adjustments. Defenses have adjusted to teams like Iowa State and will not give a clean look until the new play call (or bluff) comes in. This was happening towards the end of last year. I have a feeling that part of slowing the game down is to save the defense but when slowing the game down results in no points then adjustments should be made. If that means picking up the pace and possibly putting the defense out there sooner then fine. At least we would be scoring points.
I don't think we could be putting the defense out any sooner than what we have. On three and outs, if you snap the ball 15 seconds earlier, we are only talking 45 seconds to a minute. Not that big of a deal.

Per Rhoads presser: Herman called a good game, although he did listen to me

I thought that quote was telling. Herman did call a terrible game against OU. There's really no doubting that. Herman definitely earned his money this week. Let's hope they hang about 42 on KU next weekend.

Also, we need to freaking score a touchdown against Iowa's starters, something our team has not done in 18 QUARTERS!!!!!

Agreed. They usually have a very good Defense but come on. It's getting a little sad.

I am looking to see some improvement this year. So far, Herman has been a little less than impressive.

By my calculations, the offense hasn't scored, period, touchdown, field goal, or extra point, in six months! Time to fire Herman!!!

Our best hope for running up the score to 40 is against UNI. For Iowa, we better score some TDs this year.

I feel I have my priorities straight when I say I care more about beating the squawks than scoring TD's on them. I was perfectly happy with 15 points on FG's in a win and I would be perfectly happy with a 2-0 win this fall.

I agree too, but if we can score against a usually stout Iowa D, that spells something good for us later in the year. I know some will disagree with me, but Iowa is a good test for us early in the season.

I agree. I don't care if the final score is 3-0...as long as ISU is on top.

That said though, our offense has been dreadful against Iowa the last 2 years and we've got blown out. Norm Parker is a hell of a coach, Herman will need to step up his game and not call plays that a 5 year old in the crowd can predict or else it will be more of the same.

I'm with you. You are absolutely right.

I just get tired of a win being practically ignored because it didn't include a TD. The object of the game is to score more points than your opponent. It doesn't matter if they are on FG's, TD's or safeties. The whole streak thing was pretty hollow when it included an Iowa loss. You might say that it was just as impressive because the team had to get in scoring position more times than Iowa to win it. The streak is even more hollow now while it includes a TD as well even though it wasn't against the starters.

Is one TD against the starter's this year going to make this whole thing go away or are we going to find another qualifier so we can cry about it some more?

Herman has to realize that we're chained to Iowa and we're not going to be playing them at the end of the season so we'd better start opening up the playbook.

Iowa should be a game that we're winning in Ames, period. If we have to play this game we have to treat it like a conference game.

i seriously hate the checking with the sideline for plays every down, but it is too early to say Herman isnt cutting it. If we dont see results in the next two seasons that look like the offense is coming around, id replace him. we have had a pretty decent running attack, so at least thats good. Not sure if the passing game is Herman or the players we had.
