I ****** right next to Bret Meyer once at Cab West Glen. I had to fight the urge to not check out how big...

3 days after the 2004 Iowa game, I was putting some caramel and chocolate sauce on an ice cream cone in the MWL dining center. It was taking just a tad longer than your standard ice cream cone, and Brian Jansen was standing in line behind me. He says out loud "how hard is it to make a ******* ice cream cone?". I responded "about as hard as a 30 yard field goal".

He was not amused.

I remember last year at the NDSU game i was sitting my seat at the football game. I was in the second row..and here comes Jamie Pollard up from the field and getting ready to walk up the stadium steps and he almost falls and breaks his face. Luckly he caught himself.

Now that is funny! Your comeback was impressive, not to mention the fact that you recognized who he was. I'm not even sure his parents knew who he was. Talk about a no name player thrust into the spotlight.

It's also amazing that a walk-on kicker would have an attitude. Good lord, man, you're a WALK ON KICKER.

That's the thing. I wouldn't have normally just been a **** if I had seen him on the bus or at a party or something, but he was ******** at me about a ******* ice cream cone. Screw that. If he hadn't copped an attitude, I wouldn't have said a word.

I think that the staff makes pretty good use of Perfect Games. Sounds like most of the recruits are brought through there...and usually Hickory Park.

That is really sad that perfect games is a recruiting tool. I mean my 7 year olds love it, but college kids?

I once offered Bruce Van DeVelde a Natural Light at our tailgate to discuss the whole LE thing

Odd. I've read a lot from BVD on CF - but he never brought that up. ;)

It always centered around how bad ISU was off financially, the coaching changes, etc. I wonder if we could PM him to see what he thinks of the new scoreboard...

At Perfect Game, I almost bowled a perfect game once but got nervous and blew it -- ended up with a 189 instead :pwink:

I failed to recognize Tron Smith. What a stupid I am.

There's a 0% chance that I would recognize Tron Smith. I barely recognize his name when I hear it. To me, he's "that one guy who does something with CF once in a while that I never watch".

I sat next to mcdermott on a plane last year, but I wasn't impressed, cause he was hogging my elbow room.

If the coaches were taking the recruits through the things that made up many of our collegiate experiences, there would be violations left and right.

What do you want them to do? Take them to a kegger full of Jersey Chasers?

Oh, I can see it. First off, they're staying right next door at the Hilton Garden Inn. Second, they do have a nice little sports bar with bowling and ESPN on at the end of the lanes. Third, there's always lazer tag or some video games. Fourth, West Towne Pub is right next door and since that is more restaurant than bar, the minors can go in there.

Not a bad area to be on a Friday night when the whole team is off staying across town. Come in from the airport, get a ride to Ames, check in to the hotel, walk over to Perfect Games for some bowling and video games...maybe West Towne Pub for dinner. If I were the coaches, I'd want to observe the recruits in a little bit of a social setting to see how they fit in. And then of course get a full report from the host when they actually go out post-game on Saturday night.
