Keep thinking that cause for you it will ease the pain when he bolts to the Bulls. But most of CF knows no that he's just like all the other coaches in this sport. They are only in it for themselves.

Who should he be in it for? You? Stop playing such a victim. For God's sake. Fred taking an NBA job doesn't mean he doesn't love ISU. He just doesn't need to be obligated to spend his entire career proving it. If I could go back in time and tell everyone when he was hired how much success he would have and the circumstances and timing of his departure, everyone would be thrilled for the hire. A thank you Fred.

Oh, and he would be a complete dumb *** to say anything about his NBA discussions before a deal is signed.

It will be interesting to see if Carol and the boys stay living in the Ames area, or if they move to Chicago?

I assume they will move to Chicago, but if not, then I think it's safe to assume they weren't too keen on this idea of Fred making this move either, but supported it anyway because it was Fred's dream.

If that's the case, it would make Fred look even worse than he already does IMO. It already looks like a somewhat greedy and selfish move, but this would make it seem even more so.

Are we stooping to speculating about Fred's personal life now? Pathetic.

And the Pelicans... Exploring every avenue to get him the hell out of his "dream job."
Which is what anyone in his position would do. He's a hot commodity, it would be ridiculous for him to limit himself to only interviewing at one organization.

Here nor there
He's fine, there is no reason to believe the deal would be stopped because of Fred's health, my point though is that if the deal isn't yet finalized or has just recently been finalized there is no way you could expect Fred to resign without something else in place.

A standing NBA coach maybe, but one that needs to be able to recruit at his current one you can. One that "has enough integrity" to not recruit for ISU due to that level of "interest" in the NBA certainly has the integrity to resign once you reach the contract phase.

These supposed interviews are not true, only leaked spin by agents.

Not defending anyone, but technically he could still retire here. Maybe as coach, maybe even as AD someday. I am not saying I expect it, but people have different dreams at different points in life. For now, I am moving on with 5 years of good memories. I am hopeful we get the right person to continue to build this program.

I guess so, somewhat. Him and his family can do whatever they want to and makes them happy.

I just keep trying to figure out in my mind what is driving him to do this, especially right now? None of it seems logical at all? Is his working relationship with JP bad? Does he just HATE recruiting that bad? And I just keep wondering if this is what his family would want? Kids are still in school, in small town Iowa, which you can't get much better than that. Grandparents are all close, which I'm assuming they like as well?

It's just curious to all of us I'm sure what is driving this decision right now?

Haha they will move to Chicago. And most likely live in the North Shore burbs with all the other rich folk and their mansions.

Now, if he took the Pelicans job, you would have a better point, although still not a good one. But, I could see why somebody wouldn't want to live in a homeless swamp.

I really don't think you understand what's happening here. And anyways isn't late April through May mostly a quiet period for college basketball recruiting? I know all of May is either a quiet or dead period.

No kidding. Fred and his family are free to pursue what THEY want for their lives. I wish people would quit projecting their personal choice onto someone else's choice.

Thanks for the last 5 years Fred, and good luck in the NBA. Although there is no way on this earth I can root for the Bulls...
