Hogue - game changer.

Hogue changed the momentum of the game at the 3:40 mark. I watched the reply and noticed he cleverly shoved Ridley in the back on the UT fast break, in turn making Ridley run over Morris and pick up his 3rd foul. It gave us the ball back down 10, from that point on we took over the game. I didn't notice it live, but Barnes sure did! We always seem to be on the receiving end of crap like that, so ask me if I feel bad for UT....um hell no. It is interesting to go back and watch the last 5 minutes knowing that seemingly insignificant foul changed the momentum. UT could have been up 12-13 with 3 minutes left!

Iowa State deserved to win that game. I debated if I should post this because it shows us getting away with one and changing the momentum, but then I thought it was great to realize:
1) There are always bad calls on both sides of the ball.
2) We always seem to have more crap calls against us, and I think that is still true...YET
3) We're not always getting kicked in the nuts.
4) Hoiberg is a genius

that was a weird call; I am a little confused on why we got the 2 shot foul on that; I thought even though we were bonus + it was still not a free throw foul.

Another weird call was Ridley travel when he pretty much gets attacked by McKay.

Also before the Hogue shove he pretty much attacked the Texas player on the other side of the court when Texas was rebounding our shot.

Really surprised we won that; kind of lucky but that is sports.

Refs were bad both ways as usual, but it certainly seemed tilted the other way for a while.

Dustin was huge. A lot of big hustle plays, huge 3 and a great rebound and time out at the end.

Another example where his play does not show up in the box score and stats....When I got back to watching midway through the 2nd half, daughter had a spring concert and I left early, he was on the bench and I was thinking bad things....But I am glad he got back in...Got a big rest and came out to do the things he does.

Having 8 interchangeable guys really does help things I think. Dustin was out for most of the middle of the game after a bit of a rough start, but was fresh for the closing stretch and did all the things we needed him to do.

We have so many options when a guy is struggling. There always seems like somebody on the bench is ready to take charge.

Beyond impressive. Basically benched but when called on in the clutch with **** getting wild hits a huge shot and plays like a wild man in the paint.

Hogue was huge down the stretch. I was so happy it was him who got the final rebound. I felt really bad for him after he dribbled the previous offensive rebound off his foot and out of bounds -- he was ******!. That final rebound had to feel like major redemption for him.

Great post! I noticed the same thing on about my 4th replay from the 4 min mark last night. I was curious if anyone else saw that- awesome!

As far as 'getting away with one', the way I choose to look at is; the shooter missed and wasn't fouled. ISU got the rebound, so they likely would have scored or at least it would have been a wash. If the shooter was fouled and it was overturned because of Ridley foul, or if the basket was made and was call off because of the Ridley foul, then i'd feel a little more funny about it. But, **** it! 'bout time we had a call go our way in that game!

I thought that the last 3 minutes, they basically quit calling fouls. It was a rugby scrum on several occasions on rebounds / loose balls. They just let it go.

When they called that foul I had to immediately rewind to see what Ridley did. I pointed out the one Hogue got away with. But yes, there were missed calls both ways. The out of bounds play was one of the most egregious. If the Texas player is 3 feet out of bounds it really doesn't matter if he tips it on Hogue or not - ISU ball.

It looks like the official just flat out missed the shove by Hogue and then saw Ridley push Morris thus called the foul. We got away with one there, folks. I think the reason we got foul shots was because it was after the shot. I know the rule is that offensive fouls are never awarded free throws in college.

They clearly blew the out of bounds call, but, they could have easily called a foul on Hogue. IMO
When I saw they surprised look on Hogue's face I though they had called a foul on him.

Very happy for him to hit that big 3. But he needs to step up and be a senior leader. He was pouting last night and acting like a big baby. Sulked and did not participate in one of the team's TO in the first half. Fred was right to sit him.

If the other Big 12 teams don't hate Hogue by now they aren't paying attention.

He's the kind of player you love to have but is beyond annoying to play against. Hustle player, hits absolutely back breaking 3s at a crazy % that don't look pretty, baits a lot of calls bordering on flopping, is involved in a lot of technical foul plays, gets key rebounds and blocks at key times. Pretty much everything that frustrates me as a spectator when an opponent does it.

Did anyone doubt that after missed that first 3 attempt the next one was going in, you could tell he rushed the first one but the 2nd time he was right in rhythm . It was the kind of shot you knew was going while he was shooting.

Some random dude from Oregon sat at the bar next to me watching the game. I know we use the phrase with him a lot, but when a dude that knows nothing really about ISU says "man, that number 22 is a junkyard dog" I could only smile and think, "yep, that's our Hogue-y Badger!"
