Where they love the governor
Man, this going to turn into a pretty great conference feud if we can all keep up this level of petty anger with each other all week. Good work Clones and Raiders alike!

We don't want the hate to fizzle out though. I'm worried that we're spending all of our anger at once and by about Thursday, we'll be done with it and forget what we were fighting about. We need to let a slow burn go throughout the next week and a half. Somebody from each side gets to say something completely outrageous every day to keep the fires burning.

People still wear jean shorts?

In Lubbock, yes. And I have been there (lived in that region for 3+ years).

ISU has had to scratch and claw for years to get the minute amount of respect it takes to be called a "tough out". It's kind of absurd to expect our fan base to give your team a ton of love just because you beat three patsies and looked good doing it. Heck, you guys come on here and just make a ******** of excuses about why ISU pounded you last year without hardly even admitting ISU played well.

Tech fans know all about scratching and clawing for a minute amount of respect. Texas Tech is the most underrated programs in Big 12 history. Preseason Picks Evaluated | Pistols Firing (ISU is 3rd)

I've said on this thread multiple times that ISU just whipped us last year. They just took us to the woodshed. ISU came in with a great game plan and worked it to perfection. A lot of Tech fans have stated that our DC sucked and couldn't adjust to Barnett's zone read, and we feel like we have that corrected this year, but credit ISU for finding that weakness and exposing it last year.

Like I've said, I fully expect casual ISU fans to think this will be an easy win for you guys based on last years game. Only thing I've done is given you some facts about where Texas Tech is at this year and allowed you to draw your own conclusion. I think if you do your homework you'll come away understanding that this is a much improved Tech team, but I don't blame the casual ISU fan for thinking it's an easy win and writing Tech off before the game. Any Tech fan that does that toward ISU is a fool.

Your complete evidence that the defense is better is that you fired your sucky DC and have a new one? Good foundation.

I knew you all had something good going on down there when the preseason line came out at Tech -10. I looked into then and think TTU can be pretty good. I'm just not quite willing to admit it yet.

You clearly haven't read what I've posted on this thread. There is literally no where to go but up for our defense, we finished dead last the previous season. We now have an experienced DC, not a 1st year guy. We started two true freshman at LB, we're now more experienced and brought in some JUCO talent. We started 3 walk-ons and a WR in the secondary last year. Now we're starting 4 Seniors. This is the deepest most talented D-line we've had in over 15 years at Tech.

If you're willing to ignore all the evidence and bet that Tech will finish 2012 with a worse defense than 2011 I'm willing to take your money. Before you throw your money away, I'm just gonna let you know that Tech's defense is currently ranked #2 in the nation. We'll fall, but are you willing to bet we'll fall 120 spots???

Nobody is saying this. But none of us honestly believe TTech will end in the upper half of conference in defense either.

You keep mentioning "casual" fans. I would guess the majority on this site are more than casual fans (especially those who take the time to reply to you).

I'm not saying there aren't a few bad apples, but I don't remember anyone here saying this game is an easy win for ISU.

I'm kind of looking at it like this, until I'm given reason to think otherwise:
2012 Tech >> 2011 Tech
2012 ISU >> 2011 ISU

2011 ISU >>>>>> 2011 Tech

So,

2012 ISU >> 2012 Tech
(Obviously there's more to it than that, but all you're talking about is how much better your guys are. Well guess what - ours are better too, & this time we're back in our house.)

It's comments like these that keep derailing your points. How do you know, after 3 cupcakes, that this is a true statement?

Haven't we already been over this. Tech hasn't played anybody worth a damn yet. Your statistics are all skewed. Nobody knows how good your defense is until they play somebody who has an offense (Iowa State).

Maybe I am looking at the wrong stats but it appears that not only did Tech not finish dead last in the country in major defensive categories (yards/game, points/game, etc.) you didn't even finish last in the Big 12. It appears that Kansas stole the lanterne rouge from you. So no it is not true that there is literally no other way to go but up.

EDIT: I'm not saying you aren't improved, you very well could be, but posting **** that isn't true does not improve your case.

So if I say that I think you have a mediocre defense, I'm saying it hasn't improved? Lighten up Francis. I know they're ranked #2. That's what happens when college teams play high school teams. Those first three games of the season, they mean squat in projecting the rest of the season. So now all of a sudden you went from having an awful Dline last year to having the best in 15 years? I'm sorry but I'm going to question stupid **** like that. That's where you lose all credibility. The hyperbole has gotten out hand with some of you. No one said you aren't better but you aren't the 85' Bears.

Based on simple numbers you could make the argument. In '09 we went to Austin with 1 DE on the roster. In '10 it was a mess and basically only had 3 guys to rotate. 2011 our starting DE missed the first 5 games and our other starting DE played with a hole in his lung. In 2012 we legitimately have 3 deep at every position on the D-line. I could keep going back further but it would be pointless because Leach never cared about building up the D-line.
