You don't understand that under Tuberville, Texas Tech recruits Texas better than any Big 12 school but UT and OU. And FINALLY, Tuberville's recruits are healthy redshirt freshmen and sophomores. This season reminds me of 2007.

Point still stands. Stud recruits don't just go 4-2 against ISU, TCU, OU, TX, WVU, and KSU cause they're stud recruits.

We were discussing returning starters and experience. Experience is a pretty big deal. Starting Jansen Watson at CB#2 is a much, much better scenario than starting a true sophomore like we had to with Reeves or a RS Freshman like we had to with Leonard Johnson. Especially in the Big 12. Having upperclassmen on the DLine is HUGE. Same for OLine.

As a fan I look for weak spots that our team can exploit, and underclassmen are where I would look to first.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you.

I think we're actually somewhat on the same page. What I was trying to say was that the guys that you have in your program that put in the time, and eventually start as JRs and SRs are the guys that set the floor on what your defense can be. They are better than the freshman. They don't make the freshman mistakes, and they have the athleticism and ability to be very solid players. They fill holes where there used to be holes.

As a fan, and I shouldn't have spoken for all fans, these are not the guys that scare me, although they are the guys that win you games by setting the bottom at a high level. When we play Oklahoma, I expect a certain baseline of talent. It's the guys that are the crazy talents that scare me, not their 2nd TM DTs. That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying it's not worth arguing with all these sunshine-pumping Red Raiders.

I can get with that. Luckily I would consider McDonough, Klein, Knott, Washington, and Reeves to be those guys. Carry on.

Here's a GIF for your trouble:

No matter who y'all got for talent rolling into town I'm just glad we don't have to play against Leach's teams anymore. All these monster wr's I keep reading about in this thread may be great, but do they run crossing routes like Leaches midgets?? Lol, seriously though that was a freakin nightmare. Even though I love Leach I was overjoyed to see him leave the Big 12 for obvious selfish reasons.

Yup. You're going to hate RFr Jakeem Grant and RFr Javares McRoy. Fastest midget WRs you'll see this season. That said, I wish Tech had your LBs. Those dudes are sick!

I would venture a guess that TT does not recruit Texas better than aTm. You may get more players from Texas, but I would guess that they are not as highly recruited as aTm. I would also contend that TT does not recruit Texas better than TCU either, so your blanket statements ring a bit hollow.

Tech has played 3 cupcakes and ISU has played 1. I have no idea why you think we can't run the ball/have to pass it. But hey, hopefully the TTU coaching staff thinks the same way and only gears for the pass. Then we'll blow you up on the run. Our RB future is sky high, proven by Nealy last night. He had 77 yards on 7 carries in the 3rd Qtr with the 2nd string o-line. Im gonna guess he has a big game against Tech if he gets the carries.

And And And Rob Standard. I am in St Louis and that kid has a tremendous future judging from his high School records. Yes, our run plays will blow TTU's minds out!

These Tech fans are stand up dudes. Anyone else miss the complete wastes of life that were husker, A&M & MU fans? If there was a real delusional fanbase, it would be those guys.

I've already said that ISU just whipped us last year and if I was a casual Iowa State fan I would expect the same thing in Ames this year. The thing that's tough about Rhoads teams is that they play hard and don't make mistakes. They force you to drive the length of the field without giving up big plays. A lot of offenses can't do that enough times without making a mistake.

I think we're much improved, but it's not going to be a cakewalk. I haven't seen any Tech fan predict we'll walk into Ames and beat Iowa State by multiple touchdowns.

You must not read Raider Power.

Fair enough... Let's line up and play a football game on the 29th. See who is the better Big 12 team.
FWIW, the TT offense may be the "surprise" of 2012 Big 12 play; but, perhaps an equal "surprise" of 2012 Big 12 play may be Iowa State's defense.

The Tech offense will only be a surprise to those who weren't paying attention. The Tech defense has the potential to surprise. I'm not saying it'll be great, but it should be a middle of the road D, which is a big step up from worst.

This would be huge. That way you're not caught in a shoot out. Hopefully they really cement things on the 30th ;-)

I actually heard an interview with Tech's offensive coordinator today. He talked about how he wants to see CB's and Safeties on the ground when they review film. He doesn't want the WR's to just block their man, he wants them to put the CB on the ground. He wants the opposing team to view the film and just understand that they'll be in for a rough night. Thought that was interesting.

Also heard an interview with Seth Doege(Tech's QB) and he talked about a TD pass to our 6'6" 250lb TE. He said that him(Doege) and the TE had different reads so the TE ran a different route than was expected, but Doege hit him anyway. So, our WR's are not signaled in set routes, they actually are taught to make a presnap read of the secondary and run their route based on that.

Basically our defense lines up the same way everytime so that may not be a total advantage. If we line up the same, you run to the same holes, by the second play, we will know where you will be.

Come on. McRoy is all but off the team. Grant though… he's a freakin nightmare for defenses. He seems to be cut from the same cloth as Sammy Watkins.

Someone email JP. We better make sure CPR knows about the 4* receivers.
