Question, since Nevada got almost 700 yards on NWS, are they world beaters too?

I know you're asking a rhetorical question, but A) Nevada will be a good team who will face Boise with the conference on the line, B) but they did give up 34 points. C) Nobody is claiming that Tech is a world beater.

So here's a recap of this thread:

TTU: Hi guys, look forward to the game. So far we look better than last year's abomination, should be a good game.
ISU: Whatever. We owned you two years in a row and you've played nobody.
TTU: We know the schedule is weak, but the improvement is obvious and we're feeling better about the team.
ISU: WHOA WHOA WHOA! All these delusional Tech fans think they're gonna win the national championship!
TTU: No, we're just saying we aren't going to get demolished again. Defense looks better, we're healthy, and we're loaded on offense.
ISU: Tech plays three creampuffs and now they're acting like they could beat the Patriots!

To be fair, I think some of that was in response to the one post with W-L predictions. Going 4-2 thru that stretch (3-3 at WORST), beating ISU, TCU, & OU? C'mon, man!

I've seen MANY posts by our fans saying it will be a good, close game. Most truly believe either team COULD win.

We can read, which apparently you cannot. That's not how this thread went at all.

Tech looks like they will be a better team than last year.
But let's look at the facts. Defense and offense have not been tested. Calling Tech to win by double digits is being extremely optimistic and from what I can tell, that is what Tech fans really think will happen. I have found very few that think they will score less than 40. If it goes into OT, maybe, but I don't think either team will score 40 and it will be a 10pt game.

The other comment about our secondary not being able to hang with your wrs caught me a little off guard also. I realize that TT probably has a lot of speed but has tech played a secondary that could compete with them. Based on the competiton I am going to say no. I think we might be a little small but we do have some speed. I do think that your TE could give us some fitz though.

Wow, tough crowd. Just trying to inject a little humor here to get through the bye week.

I agree, a few of our fans are getting ahead of themselves and are overconfident. But here's the thing: We're both right. Yes, we've played nobody and have inflated stats. Yes, Iowa State has a better resume thus far and has blasted us lately. BUT, we have shown improvement that is evident despite the level of competition, and we're as close to healthy as we've been in a few years. So we *shouldn't* get donkeypunched again. I'm guessing the line will open at about ISU -7, and we'll need to play a hell of a game to leave with a W.

Thanks for pointing out my illiteracy and giving me a link to Raiderpower though...very helpful!

Actually it went like this:

TTU Fans: Give us respect! Our players have starzzz! We beat Texas State!
ISU Fans: No. In two weeks, maybe.
TTU Fans: We have a JUCO LB! Give us respect!
ISU Fans: No. In two weeks, maybe.
TTU Fans: Well, we have a 5'-6" receiver!
ISU Fans: .....
TTU Fan: *bad joke*

ISU has had to scratch and claw for years to get the minute amount of respect it takes to be called a "tough out". It's kind of absurd to expect our fan base to give your team a ton of love just because you beat three patsies and looked good doing it. Heck, you guys come on here and just make a ******** of excuses about why ISU pounded you last year without hardly even admitting ISU played well.

Take a look at the espn boards. That isn't the case.

I can see TTU fans bragging about thier offense, it is and has always been impressive.

However, your defense has always been suspect, and knocking around 3 women's schools doesn't prove otherwise.

I actually think the discussion went more along the lines of:

TTU: Look out, we are much improved, we have really been playing well in our first three games.
ISU: We can't tell if you are improved or not because the level of your competition is somewhere between Catholic girls school and decent Texas high school team.
TTU: Tubby actually would like to improve the schedule a little bit.
ISU: So maybe he wants to know what he's got too?
TTU: Can't believe you guys won't acknowledge that we are the superior team.
ISU: Let's wait and see how the game goes. We should both know something after that game.

I don't think anyone really doubts Tech is better than they were. But we won 41-7 last year, in Lubbock, and I think we're better this year than we were in 2011. What I doubt is that Tech has improved enough to make up for that. Their performances against the quality of opponents in their first three games this year aren't capable of providing sufficient evidence of such a massive turnaround. The belief that ISU will be a guaranteed, "comfy" win and a game that Tech will win by two touchdowns that seems to be the norm amongst Tech fans can only be justified by the arrogant "We're Tech and they're Iowa-*******-State" attitude. That would explain (some of) the hostility here.

And a Tech fan predicting 3-3 "at worse" through that stretch might be worse than anything even Iowa or Baylor fans have posted on this board.

Man, this going to turn into a pretty great conference feud if we can all keep up this level of petty anger with each other all week. Good work Clones and Raiders alike!

We still have 11+ days. Heck, it won't even be jean short weather in Lubbock by the time we play them.
