Loney. For the very reason he is not high profile and will be loyal. Put the money in great coordinators and the best recruiters. Its time for Jamie to go he has done too much damage and pissed off to many. If Gene returns next year so be it; I buy season tickets to see a game not a coach. It doesn't matter who is at the helm, just win!

why do you think Loney would be loyal? he already has left ISU twice for greener pastures.

Take the coach who wins the FCS? Why not? It might be cheaper than another Heartbreak City.

Because ISU is his dream HC job. He left the first time because there was pressure on Mac to fire assistants so he left voluntarily. The second time he left because he thought Mac was going to be HC forever at ISU.

Next head coach?

Turner Gill, Chris Petersen, Brady Hoke and Randy Edsall would all be great choices, but are any of them realistic?

Re: Next head coach?

The next head coach HAS to have prior coaching experience. Thats one of the biggest problems I had with the Chizik hire.

Re: Next head coach?

Todd Graham from Tulsa has done a great job keeping the program together since Kragthorpe left, if he could bring Gus Malzahn with him, we could have a heck of a killer offense next year provided the players all stay and the line figures out how to block.

Re: Next head coach?

I think Gill is, he wants out of Buffalo (he stated that he has done all he can here and it is time for a new challenge). He has interviewed at few places and not gotten the job - he has proven that he can turn around a ****** program and he has 13 years of being next to Tom Osborne (maybe one of the greatest coaches of all time) soaking in a winning tradition.

I would like him or Gary Patterson if possible - but for some reason he won't leave TCU.

Re: Next head coach?

I hear Tommy Tuberville's available...

That's funny because I was reading the Auburn boards and they kept saying we need to hire the best available coach and the responses were Tuberville. I am guessing they are kicking themselves for letting Tommy go.

Dan McCarney!!!!!!!!!!

Well Jamie Pollard hindsite is 20/20 and I wish Coach Mac was still here. Dan McCarney is a great person, coach and Iowan. Jp needs to swallow his pride and talk to coach Mac and get him back here. I know this is a crazy thought but from what has happened the past few months in Ames....This would not be a bad idea. I know coach Mac does not like what is going on up here. I know he has a great gig down in Florida and was forced out by JP, but we cant let this go on. I think Jp needs to look long and hard at himself in the mirror and say "What the hell have I done to this athletic dept?"...I know he has brought a lot of money and some facility upgrades...But that is it.......There has been no success at all with the basketball and football and we are getting worn thin. I always have been on the McCarney kool-aid and always will be.....LOYALTY.........Lets get him back and get some recruits because the guy can sell ice to an eskimo.

Um no. Jamie Pollard was not the only one who felt Dan should go.

Re: Next head coach?

I was serious when I brought up Mark Farley yesterday evening. The only thing is, UNI has a better chance to win a national championship than ISU does, albeit at a lower level.

If he would have made the proper coaching changes with coordinators, he would still be here today I believe. Would be great to find that type of loyalty again.

They didn't let him go, he resigned.

Re: Next head coach?

Turner Gill and Peterson would be at the top of my list. I agree with Deace, in that ISU needs to come out and employ some type of offense that makes them unique in some fashion.

So these two would be atop my list....What about Air Force's coach? That offense would be a departure in preparation for teams.

I agree. mac had the opposite of chizik's loyalty. but he was loyal to a fault. he kept asst coaches around when they clearly needed let go. a change at o-coordinator might have saved his job.
