Not a huge secondary market for airline tickets.
True. My point was more about being sure the owner has access to their ticket/seat no matter what.

I've been one of the ones who prints out our tickets. There were many times when the scanners were not working because of glare or the ticket holder couldn't bring it up on their phone. We were able to waltz right through.

I can see this working really really well.

Per ISU Email.

All fans are required to enter MidAmerican Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium using a mobile ticket. The easiest way to access your mobile tickets is via the free ISU Cyclones App. You can also access your tickets online using Account Manager.

If you haven't logged into your account recently you may need to reset your password. Simply follow the prompts on the screen to reset the password and verify your contact information.

ISU Athletics has implemented Ticketmaster's SafeTix for all events. With SafeTix, your phone is your ticket! It is designed to provide the best possible entry experience and cut down on fraudulent tickets. When using SafeTix, printouts and screenshots will not be accepted at entry.

These tickets are powered by a new and unique barcode that automatically refreshes every 15 seconds so it cannot be stolen or copied, keeping your tickets safe and secure. Also, Apple Wallet and Google Wallet tickets will not have a barcode- you will simply tap your phone on the scanning device at the stadium entrance.
I will have to call them. Not all ticket holders have smart phones.

In the past, they always said this was the case but still let printouts in

This will be a disaster. People better get into the game earlier than they planned... it's going to be a nightmare.

Maybe with these new tickets you won't be able to get back into the game if you leave at halftime? Now that would be a huge upgrade!

Add tickets to your Apple/Google wallet before you leave your house, this fanbase is full of whiny *******
Help me understand how that helps if it is generating a new barcode every 15 seconds. Doesn't it still have to "talk to a server"?

This shouldn’t really be an issue, but the problem is the cell service at JTS is abysmal. I could see it becoming a problem for those that don’t download them beforehand.

Also, any time my ticket hasn’t scanned they’ve just let me in anyways. The Buena Vista baseball players or whoever they’re paying to do “security” couldn’t care less

This is an absolutely terrible idea. There is pushing electronic tickets but still having options for the non-tech-literate crowd, and then there is requiring it with really no other good options for those people. You are totally pushing people of a certain age away from attending games with this move.

I have absolutely no issues with electronic tickets because I know how to download an app, save to an Apple Wallet, I charge my phone, and know to turn the screen brightness up to maximum. From personal experience at JTS, many, many people do not know part of or even all of these steps. This does not expedite entry to the stadium at all. It will create even more of a backlog as you are eliminating the ability for people who know they don’t have the tech skills to do this to come up with the alternate solution of printing them out.

This 100%. ISU better plan on supplying free public wifi bc anything provided by Verizon, AT&T, us cellular, or sprint fails pretty spectacularly at JTS

For the last two years, I've attended games at Nebraska and been able to livestream the CyHok game while in Memorial Stadium! If they can figure it out in Lincoln, surely we should be able to do it too.

I always try to 'save' my tickets to my Google wallet before leaving home. Hopefully this continues to work. All jokes aside it has worked pretty well for me in the past.

Kinda funny (not) that for airline tickets we’re encouraged to take screenshots in case there’s no WiFi or your phone doesn’t/can’t connect to the app. We usually have ours in the app, wallet and screenshot, and we each usually have ours and the other person’s just to be sure.
We would do the same of saving our tickets to Google wallet, and then we'd screen shot them to have them in the app, wallet and screen shot.

Ultimately I think what's being implemented will be fine, but I would like the ability to take a screen shot just to have a backup to the backup.

I'm fine with it, but its going to lead to some user error with people who have their NFC disabled and don't understand anything about their phones. Definitely going to be a learning curve the first few games.
