Im letting the computer run the defense this year. Crazy how much better the D is when I sim it.
I have that exact same problem(?). When I play defense, I'll get gashed for long runs and the opposing QB completes 80-90% of passes freely. When I sim D, incompletions, run stop and punts are much more frequent.

Have you guys messed with the individual sliders, I toned down the CPU passing sliders and it helped some. The game will still seem to just decide that the CPU team is going to score a TD on a drive though and there doesn't seem to be much you can do about it. They'll just string together 7-8 plays in a row. I think that if you switch up defensive formations once you realize that the CPU is gonna have an unstoppable drive that it does help a little. As long as I don't get gashed for a huge TD play I usually end up 50/50 with them getting a TD or FG on those unstoppable drives.

Mine is changing in the settings menu but it’s not actually changing. I’m playing AA and it’ll say freshmen sometimes, but the games still go the same.

There was a 5 star gem QB who I just missed on in recruiting. I don’t think I’ll ever recover emotionally

I had a 4* gem wr, who was ‘committed’.

He had a deal breaker of ‘play style’, and my passing yard per game avg dropped below the requirement, and he instantly decommitted and locked me out of his top 5. He remains uncommitted several weeks later, when i would have just re-recruited him, after my avg leveled out and is now above the requirement.

Okay, so here is my small school recruiting itinerary. Again, this is Ball State I'm doing. It's cheesy/gamey, but this is a game. Plus, there just isn't many recruiting hours to throw around at this level so you have to be picky or you're going to end up with a LOT of 1 or 2 stars just to fill a roster.

1. Never recruit 2 stars or below. Just don't need it.
2. Preseason, scout all of the 3 stars with interest in you to try and find gems. Offer any 3/4 stars you can with any interest, focusing on the gems and the 4 stars.
3. Week zero - Bring the house to any 3 star gems and 4 stars ONLY IF THEY DON'T HAVE OTHER OFFERS. Max you're doing this for is 7 guys if you only have 350 recruiting hours.
4. Week 1 and 2. Repeat. Immediately drop any recruiting hours you're putting in on a guy if they get any other offer. As a 1 star program, you'll get beat I promise you. You'll probably get really close to a commit or get a commit on a few of them.
5. Week 3 you're starting to find guys that don't have other offers. NEVER SCOUT DURING THE SEASON. Not enough recruiting hours. Just find 4 stars with no offers, hopefully in your pipeline, and offer them and bring the house. Can probably start breaking up some of the 3 star gems, only doing the 25 hour friends and family to start expanding the offers.

Rinse and repeat. There will probably be even 3 star high school recruits with no offers in the offseason. Offer, bring the house.

I got I think two 4 star recruits in year 1 and I've got a few 4 star recruits in year 2 so far but only a few games into the season.

I do some gamey stuff with the schedule - I schedule road games at ND, Purdue, Indiana and beat them all because screw those other Indiana schools. I sim most of the the rest of the games minus the two rivalries. I only went like 7-6 in year 1 so it's not like I'm totally cheesing out and winning the natty to get the program prestige way up.

Tried this, working great. Im the OC at Georgia State, and i've landed 3 4* Recruits, but have lost several when a random low-level SEC team offers them a scholarship.

I saw a post on reddit earlier that had the similar scenario except it was in the user's favor. Recruit committed to another school, other school's rating dropped on his dealbreaker and he de-committed and committed to the user's school because he was in second place. I had been removing prospects from my board when they commit to other schools but it may be better not to after seeing that.

What playbook is everyone using? I am not liking Iowa State's offensive one at all.
I like the Multiple Offense playbook. Lots of variation in formations, from wishbone to 5 wide gun. Not a huge fan of a lot of the passing concepts in the shotgun formations, but overall I really like it.

I'm still using Iowa States. I was pretty inept with it until I learned how to more effectively run the RPO's but I've come to like it. I end up hot routing quite a few in and out routes anyway.
