It had a good run and ended on a relatively high note. This is far from a tragedy. I always enjoyed the show, but I never quite understood the fan cult around it.
It was just so unique, and full of crazy-awesome pop references that you don't see anywhere else. And doing an entire episode in 8-bit? Gotta give love to that.
Like I said I love the show. I mean that brief stretch when Community, 30 Rock, and Parks and Rec were all on at the same time, in their primes, along with the zombie Office was like a night of TV made just for me. But they were already re-mixing their greatest hits episodes this year and the whole thing already felt like a bonus run of episodes we weren't supposed to get. Sometimes it's not the end of the world if talented people are released back into the wild to work out some new ideas.
And like all shows that were maybe a little too good for their time, I fully expect to see the parts of Community to be co-opted by a new batch of shows that I really like. I just never bought in that this was some irreplaceable genius sitcom.
Wow - Mom and 2 Broke Girls are renewed and Community isn't.
