For those dogging the Defense, I believe we force 6 3 and outs. That's 6 possessions that they didn't gain any yards. That's also 6 possessions that we should have been able to atleast flipped the field. I'm not sure how many drives we had but we only scored on 3 drives. So basically around 25% of our drives we scored. They scored in 4 drives but also I believe they had 2 extra drives with halftime and the turnovers

It's pretty obvious the oline is still our weakness. I kind of feel bad for Meeker since I think he has always been a guard forced to play tackle. Downing has came in and played well as a Freshman hopefully Ramos is close to being ready. Still hoping when Newell comes back they can get it figured out.

The offense doing nothing for 3 quarters is what needs to really be addressed. Not our last defensive possession

I’m seriously thinking about taking up smoking cigarettes I don’t know htf people can be trying to pin this on the defense. 23 points in a big 12 game with the offense turning it over twice? Three times maybe technically.

The 'Yeah but it was a Big 12 Offense!' narrative is too easy for many. This wasn't Oklahoma.

If the score was ISU up 35-33 with Baylor having the ball last, do you think they are reliable enough to get the stop?

Baylor scored 21 points last week so it wasn't like their offense was cruising coming in.

I'll repeat for those that ignored the last 4 minutes: After struggling all day, ISU's offense got the lead, and the defense just needed to get a stop, and they didn't.

The defense is awesome, but I’ve been disappointed in them during some very crucial spots this season. Perhaps it’s the youth at corner that is causing us the most problem.

Went out pretty early iirc. But don’t tell @madguy30 the game isn’t the game, it’s just one drive.

In ISU's two losses, has ISU given up a score on a long drive right after taking the lead late?

Is that good or bad?

Has the defense been reliable in that situation?

That’s..........that’s now what a 3 and out is....

Offense came back and took the lead. Defense has been good, but to be great they need to get better in the clutch. Not blaming one thing, the game is a littany of consequences. That was the defense's game to lose. Special teams is awful this year, so both sides of the ball have to make it up.

Johnson had been great this year up until yesterday. Young has had a rough year IMO
This defense asks a lot of the CBs and Johnson has been good. Got beat a couple times yesterday but I think people don't realize that CBs get beat at times and you don't notice because the QBs either don't see it or don't make great throws like Brewer did yesterday.

I think saying there's something they need to figure out on 3rd and long is legit. Would love to see more negative plays and TOs, but sort of the nature of the D. Other than that the defense has been lights out.

I don't have the energy to look this up.....but are our corners like 4 inches shorter and 25 pounds lighter than other Big12 corners? It is like the McCarney days when we always had 5'-7" corners in heels.

This was a team loss. The amount of stress our O put on our D by not scoring for 3 quarters while the on field temp was over 120 degrees and missing our career sack leader was too much. By the time the offense finally got going and the shade was on our sideline our D was running on fumes. ISU is not the only team to give up a go ahead field goal in the last 2 minutes of a half. It happens every week on every level. Offenses always seem to pull all of their concentration together on last drives of games.

We don't seem to recruit big/tall corners, we go for speed and agility there (which somewhat makes sense for a primarily-zone scheme).
