Wha?

We have ZERO experience coming in at Wing and besides Ejim no size and he's a freshman, Boozer is a guard. I dont think Ejim can make the big jump and I dont think that Clyburn can make an impact next year at the 3. He's 6-6 185 he's going to be a liability on the defense side.

Colvin/DG can run the point...bringing Phillips adds one more year of inconsistency, the point guard spot has not been stable since Mac got here. I just dont think bringing in another PG will solve the problem.

IMO this is a risky couple of JUCO's I hope I'm wrong.

Quick - Name the Best Perimeter Defensive Player in recent NBA history.

Bruce Bowen - 6'7" 200 lbs. Was his size a defensive liability?

I don't know if he can defend or not. I don't know if he can shoot or not, nor do I know a damn thing about any of the guys coming in. I'll be able to answer in about 12 months - maybe 11.

Not real excited about two guys from a DII Juco, but oh well. If we are going to be terrible I'd rather see us be young and terrible.

What happened to the "building a program" nonsense that Mac used as an excuse last year. Since that time, he has signed five players, and three are juco's.

Not even highly rated jucos, but I guess this gives all of the apologists a new set of players that are going to make all the difference next year. They can join the illustrious list of Lucca, Eik, Gilstrap, Dendy, etc.

FYI, when you are so desperate to prop somebody up that you have to use players that have yet to step foot on campus, and they aren't in their first two years on the job, you are grasping at straws supporting the coach more than the program.

Are you sure it's DII?...I don't know for sure. I guess, I'm going off of Indian Hills and they're in the same league.

How was Gilstrap not a highly ranked Juco. he was ranked high. and why you put eik and lucca on the same line as dendy and Gil when you are talking about jucos?

He's just making a generic criticism of players that were coming in that we had expectations for, with a classy knock on fans that had (or still have ) excitement over those guys.

So, he's criticizing more guys than just the juco guys, though he's disappointed by them as well.

Of course, Lucca's impact to spread the defense is kind of noticeable now that Gilstrap's driving lanes are closed off, and Eik was a pure freshman playing through illness and injury all year.

Sometimes facts are ignored to make a point. I don't get it either.

Were you here last year??? Gilstrap was another "savior" that was going to make all of the difference. Now, it's two more guys that have never set foot on the floor that are going to make all of the difference. It has been the same EVERY year. New players are hyped beyond what is healthy, and then they come in and aren't the second coming.

There is no making fun of the players here, just making fun of the same people that are trying anything they can to justify their faith in Mac, even though they never win. As far as Gilstrap, he has had a solid year. I am proud of the effort that he has given most of the year. It isn't his fault that the believers are so desperate that they will attach all of their hopes and dreams to kids that are unknown (that way there is no real proof that they can't play).

I would hate to be positive about our incoming players. I guess I should start with the idea that they stink, and go from there.

Seriously? I am not being negative about these players. I am just pointing out that this will be the FOURTH year in a row that people are using blind faith in kids that have yet to put on the uniform as a justification as to why all of a sudden we will turn this program around. You know the list of players that were going to make all of the difference to turn this thing around, and now you are adding these two.

Maybe these two are upgrades. That would be great. But it isn't fair to them to place all of the hopes of a turn around on them. Especially when we need to wait and see who transfers after the season, if anybody does.

I agree that we shouldnt put all our faith on incoming players. But i dont see why we cant be excited about them based on things weve read about them and video highlights of them.

I just saw the schedule with DMACC, Iowa Central, and Kirkwood so assumed they were DII as well, either way not like they are lighting up the schedule.

no ****, why all the negativity about upcoming recruits, why rip on the kids that do want to come and play for our program.

I am just happy that through all the troubled times our basketball team has gone through that someone wants to come and try to turn our ship around. try to look at it that way.
