How is there no Great Plains love in this thread. Having had plenty of great pizza living in Chicago and New York, I would consider that the best in Iowa.

Thick wheat crust, canadian bacon, extra cheese with honey on the crust and cheese.

Beaten to the punch.

While I love Casey's pizza, especially their breakfast pizza (definitely #1 in its category), I would definitely not have it as #1. However, I am surprised by how many people on here do have it as their all time favorite. Interesting for sure. Didn't reallize it would be that popular.

Personally I prefer thin crust to thick crust which is what I made my opinions on in my earlier post. But for thick crust, GPS&D all the way.

Sit down: Pizza King in Council Bluffs(great pizza plus full menu with awesome steaks)
Take out: Casey's for single topping or BREAKFAST PIZZA(!!!!) or Breadeaux for my favorite, Bacon Cheeseburger

I think Casey's breakfast pizza is so wonderful that it really deserves its own thread. Then, if it did have its own breakfast pizza thread, I'd imagine that Caseys would be 90% of the answer with that garbage Hot Stuff breakfast pizza maybe pulling in a few votes (which it never should).

Man, Zoey's is getting tons of love here. I'll have to check it out if I'm ever in that neck of the woods.

Personally I like me some good wood fire oven pizza, so I may have to go with Vesuvius in Ames, or when the Cafe in Ames has their baked potato pizza, that is some good stuff too.

Good luck. They have all of about 4 tables in there, and rarely a wait of less than 40 minutes. They need more seating. Excellent pizza, but I think the calzones are the best thing on their menu.

The late Borderline Pizza in Chester, Iowa is the best I've ever had. Their recipe lived on at R&B Pizza in Osage which has been recently bought by a new owner and renamed. I don't know what the new name is, but I'll be looking to try it out sometime.

Mabe's in Decorah is probably my favorite currently. They deliver to Toppling Goliath's tap room. Hard to beat that pizza/beer combo.

In central Iowa, Pizza Pit and Jeff's are among my favorites in terms of overall pizza quality. Fong's and Big Tomato have the best topping combinations, but probably aren't as good in terms of sauce/crust.

Eastern Iowa, gotta go with Falbo's in IC. Every time I partied there, the night couldn't end without a giant $2 slice of Falbo's.

If it's the weekend, go early and expect to wait. The dining area isn't very big and is almost like standing room only. We always just order it and pick it up to avoid the lines. My vote would also be Tomaso's or Zoey's.

New category what's your favorite kiddie pizza? (example: Chuck E Cheeses, Incredible Pizza Company, etc) My vote would be for the Pizza Peddler in Sioux City. It's been probably 8 years since I went there as a kid but I remember it being really good. It was equipped with an arcade, bumper cars, and ball pit. Ahh good times. It may not even be there anymore.

I'll write my expert opinion after some more research though my preliminary leader GPS&D Co. I like Zeno's and like thin crust way more than thick as I have always been about toppings but thus far the competition looks weak.

For thin crust, the now defunct Old George's in Ames was pretty top notch.

Bad pricing, not accepting credit cards, and no delivery did them in, but their quality was always good.
