im gonna go with Zenos in marshalltown as well

While not my #1, I just went to a wedding in Marshalltown where I got to experience Zenos for the first time ever at the rehearsal dinner and I was surprised how solid of a pizza it was.

Man, Zoey's is getting tons of love here. I'll have to check it out if I'm ever in that neck of the woods.

Personally I like me some good wood fire oven pizza, so I may have to go with Vesuvius in Ames, or when the Cafe in Ames has their baked potato pizza, that is some good stuff too.

Hard to pick one place as I get in different moods.
I can't go wrong with Gusto though. Gusto pizza is fantastic.

I know CF hates southern Iowa, but if you are ever in Centerville, George and Nick's have some of the best pizza in the state.

Bordanaros on the southside of DSM. Scornovacas on the south side of DSM. Old La Pizza House. Also Villagio in Norwalk is great.

I'll second Mabes pizza in Decorah. Very good. Also, Happy Joes has the best taco pizza IMO.

Siouxland
Hummers Roadhouse in a little town called Westfield. (farthest west town in the state, on highway 12 north of Sioux City). Very good pizza for a good price with a nice small town atmosphere.

Can't go wrong with Jeff's or Sauce and Dough in Ames either

I am absolutely baffled that the two best places haven't been mentioned.

Great Plains in Ames (Denver-Style Wheat Crust with Honey)

Felix and Oscars in Urbandale/WDM.

Unbelieveable.

I know I'm going to get blasted for this but I think Great Plains is one of the most overrated pizzas I've ever had.
