This is what excites me:

"Lazard is Iowa State's first commitment in the 2014 class. He is also the top ranked junior prospect in the state of Iowa and has already been selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl game in 2014. He plans to put that recruiting capital to good use on the recruiting trail over the next 14 months.

"With my commitment it will help with top in-state recruits. I already talk to most of them every now and then and we'll see each other at Iowa State games," Lazard said. "Then, when I go to the Army Bowl I will be able to get to more highly ranked recruits there, tell them about Iowa State and hopefully attract them up here."

Get him to work!! http://iowastate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1444856

He doesn't tweet often, but when he does, it's usually important. When I saw it earlier, I was hoping it would be Andre Lewis, but I'm even more excited for Lazard.
Shane Burnham is the most interesting recruiter in the world. He doesn't always tweet but when he does... it's always about STARSSSSSSSSSSSS...

Someone asked ISU has ever had an Army All American before? I think Austin Flynn was if my memory is serving me correctly. He was a big deal at the time.

This class is shaping up very nicely. It's starting to get the point where I'm not worried about who do we lose to graduation this year so much as being excited about who it is that's going to step up as the one coming in behind them.
He's not in "this" class.

I believe it was just last night people were complaining about CPR's weak recruiting lately. Since they're all over your face, I'll take my eggs scrambled.

Correct. Flynn is the only future (err...former) Cyclone to play in the Army AA game.

man, this thread has turned into quite a ***** show. why are hawk fans even on here about this and why are cyclone fans letting them get under their skin?

this is a great get especially this early in the recruiting season, but realize it is ONE recruit out of 25. it hardly makes isu elite and it certainly doesn't make iowa an fcs team. just enjoy and quit bickering.

Lazard is so good, he is already recruiting this future Flynn that hasn't yet been born.

Sounds like Allen will recruit like Big Dawg Williams last year and what Phillip Bates did way back then. Hopefully he lasts longer than Phillip.

I am just gonna go out an say this guy is like what georges niang was for us in basketball last year before he arrived at isu

Bigger. Love Georges but he's not the first top 100 kid we've got.

This would be like Fred Hoiberg landing Nerlens Noel

I think what he means is that he was a huge ambassador for the BB team. Talking it up to all and everyone he could, especially other recruits.

Agreed. Georges is like Big Dawg Williams in terms of recruits. Rhoads just landed the equivalent of Rashad Vaughn. Now it's Freddy's turn to actually land Vaughn!

That I would agree with. Georges has been great at that.

This is a huge recruit for many reasons but its great that its our first recruit. Rhoads and staff can sell that the recruits. Who wouldn't want to come play with some stud top 100 recruit?

I always wonder what Flynn could have done at QB with a less than atrocious offensive line. Austin would fit our offense quite well right now.
