I love having Matt Campbell here. This is good news and hope he coaches here until the day he retires. A 10 win season is a great accomplishment. I've always sung his praises.

That being said, is it too much to ask for his teams to play better in Big XII Champ games & bowl games? A few more wins in those scenarios sure would be nice over the next 8+ years.

Still. Great coach, better man. Him and Jamie Pollard are very important and can't understate what they've accomplished at ISU. Thanks for reading my compliment sandwich, lol.

Wish we could find out those schools, and have someone start calling them and offering players money. Just so the coach knows other can poach their players as well.
I can assure you we are 100% are doing that. Probably not with SEC/ACC/Big 10 schools because we can’t outbid them. We do it to schools that lower than us with less resources.

Our coaching staff all seem like good men and our players represent the university incredibly well but if people don’t think we get dirty in recruiting they are extremely naive.

Why would I let something like this get me upset?

Haven't seen the breakdown or the details.

He seems like a good person with a nice family, and takes care of his assistants pretty well.

I just want him to improve as a coach, too. Just as he demands of his players.

Coaches are stubborn, so he probably won't.

ISU lost to ASU when he didn't try for a score before half, with time and timeouts.

So ISU has their Ferentz.

That's not awful, and the diehard ISU fans are quite happy with him.

You are the dumbest ************ on here... and we have some idiots.

One could argue apples to oranges. The college football climate is so radically different today than when Snyder took over. So many different obstacles. And though the circumstances 'when' he took over could be advantage ISU, the subsequent path I'd argue has been more difficult for CMC than the vamp.
Snyder had to deal with powerhouses Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Colorado in the beginning. OU and NU remained strong, and then he had to deal with the addition of UT and aTm to the mix.

All while recruiting to BFE Kansas.

CMC has done an admirable job at ISU, but he isn't Snyder. Yet.......

Nevermind that he's the ONLY coach to EVER get Iowa State to Big 12 CG (x2) and he's only been blown out once, the OU game was Brock missing an open receiver away from being won.

Oh and he owns 2 of our 5 total bowl wins. He's 2-4 in bowls, everyone else in the history of the program is 3-9

With our new conference setup we can hopefully be towards the top of the pile most years with Matt at the helm. This year was awesome hoping we can break through on some conference championships and get a playoff win or two in the coming years

what do these posts mean? some cmc haters?
Those brave and honest folks who were willing to publicly wonder if the rot had set in with CMC's leadership and management of the ISU Football Program.

The thread was started on Sept. 17, 2023 after ISU had just been embarrassed in Athens, Ohio against the Ohio Bobcats in front of under 22,000 fans and broadcast on ESPN+.

ISU was in the midst of going 2-10 in its last 12 games, including a 62-10 loss at TCU to end the 2022 season.

Mind posting ISU’s record since then?

And he has won 7 of the last 8 Big 12 regular season conference ROAD games. No ISU coach in history has ever come close to doing that. Heck, it would be interesting to see when the last time Oklahoma or Texas ever did that.

ah, I vaguely remember that. I try and stay away from the boards immediately after a bad loss. I wish more people would do the same.

Did the rot end up setting in? I never finished that thread.

Honestly seeing people talking about Campbells legacy and his shortfalls is good. It means we've moved past being the mudroom of the conference (is that even a metaphor people use or did I just make that up?) and people have much higher expectations than we used to.

and I never said he wasn't far and away the best coach ISU has ever had. I even said his extension was well deserved. but people want to blow off "raised expectations" while claiming all of these great things that... shocker... they now expect from his seasons.
Do you not understand the difference between “hopes” and “expections”?

Rhetorical question.
