UCONN already had a pretty tough non-con. Texas, Duke, WVU, and Florida. Along with Dayton and Yale. 6 pretty decent teams.

I would love to get a home and home with one of each P5 conference.

Well, we are playing Colorado (Pac-12), Virginia Tech (ACC), Iowa (B1G), and an SEC team at the least. So we've got the P5 covered for next year.

Still think a home-and-home series with DePaul would be excellent. They have a big arena in Chicago that no one goes to. If we played the road leg on a Saturday I bet we could get lots of Cyclones to make a weekend trip and buy up their cheap tickets.

I'd be pretty surprised if Kansas didn't play Kentucky in this thing. They haven't played in the Big 12/SEC Challenge yet actually. ESPN will find a way to either get the Jayhawks to Rupp or the Wildcats to the Phog. College GameDay guaranteed, ESPN will print their own money, and everybody knows it.

I think Iowa State will get a road game at LSU. Florida will host West Virginia or Oklahoma maybe. It's all guessing now but I don't think Iowa State gets Kentucky next year.

This whole thing was set up for a Kansas-Kentucky matchup and now that they moved it to a Saturday in late January they can finally capitalize on that game and make it happen.

Uhh, didn't they play this year in the Big 12/SEC challenge and Kentucky beat them by like 30?

No, they played in a different preseason event. Next year is Year 3 of the Big 12/SEC Challenge and they have yet to square off within it. And this year will be the first time that the challenge is on a dedicated day of its own in the middle of the conference season. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have KU and UK playing and probably continued with having them play each other every other season for as long as the Challenge continued.

Really hope our best non-con opponent is not announced yet. Some P5, but all middling; each one would be a bad loss or so-so win.

Not an obvious top 25 team in the bunch.

I don't think ESPN cares about our showing in this years tournament when it comes to next years scheduling of this event.
They care about ratings though, and a team coming off a notable run would bring that. The best, and maybe only chance at getting UK was making at least the EE.

I like how this schedule is shaping up. Add 1 legit good team and fill out the rest with teams like Oakland.

Next January fans won't remember that we got bounced in the first round, just like they wouldn't remember if we made the elite 8.

Many would, and even more would have remembered Iowa State is good. We enjoyed that phenomenon from just a S16 run last year.

Like I said though, at least the EE. It would be a stretch, but a preseason top-10 team coming off 3 weekends in March would have a chance at the game. A FF would have led to a good chance IMO. The tournament performance definitely comes in to play.

I really hope we get either at Kentucky or a home game against LSU next year for the SEC challenge. That would be great.

Second round, sure go with it.

But yes, an early exit does not improve the chance. That does not mean ESPN does not care about our showing. A deep run gains you attention and improves your brand.
