It seemed like a dirty play to me, and I'm a blackhawks fan. Not as dirty as the Raffi Torres hit on Hossa a couple of years ago, but god was that a stupid play.

I am not sure it was dirty. I think it was just wreckless. Maybe there isn't much of a difference.

1. Seabrook's feet left the ice.
2. Seabrook hit the guy in the head with his shoulder.

Those two things change it from "reckless" to "dirty". Nobody is saying that Seabrook is a dirty player, because this will be his first suspension. But the hit was beyond reckless - it was dirty.

Yeah, you are right. I could argue the hit to the head was only because Backes had his head down, but Seabrook clearly lined up Backes, and definitely unloaded and was leaving his feet on that hit. So even if the head contact was incidental, the lining up, leading with the forearm, and leaving the feet is enough to classify it as dirty.

Blue Jackets score shorthanded. Then right after the PP is over, they commit another penalty. Pittsburgh is up 3-2. But CBJ is playing better shorthanded than Pittsburgh is playing on PP.

I'm a Blackhawks fan through and through. I hate seeing Seabrook suspended, but he definitely deserved it. I believe that he didn't intend to have it go the way it did, but these players need to realize you can't come in and just blast a guy to do it. When Torres hit Hosa, I thought he never should play in the NHL again, mainly because of his history. So this kind of hit definitely deserves the suspension. I'm actually not quite sure it's enough, even with Seabrooks lack of history.

One option I've liked is in an illegal hit, you can't play again until the guy you hit can play again as well.

You know, I do really enjoy watching hockey, I always forget that until playoff time. I should watch more so I know more about the teams and players during the playoffs.

It's a great sport, but one that, imo, is plagued like Baseball and the NBA, of having too long of a regular season. Last years season was almost perfect imo. West only played West, east only played East and at 48 games, it made it more exciting from week to week. I'd like to see them trim it down a bit and be done by the end of May.

Nice dirty hit by Matt Cooke on Tyson Barrie last night. Barrie is out 4-6 weeks -- I hope they suspend Cooke for the rest of the playoffs. That's about enough out of him.

That was a really obvious shot to Barrie's knee.

Borderline surprised that Roy didn't come after Cooke, personally.
