In college I worked part time at a daycare. One of the kids there I knew was a big Iowa State fan who always went to games with her parents. On the Monday after the 2007 Iowa/Iowa State game I asked her if she had gone to the game. She replied by saying "I saw you there. You stopped and played catch with me and my dad for like 20 minutes." Needless to say, I was good and drunk and had absolutely no recollection of having seen her, let alone playing catch with her for 20 minutes. That made for an interesting explanation to a 3rd grader why I had no memory of having spent 20 minutes with her.

It could have been worse...

I do enjoy the fact that a thread on mistakes has been largely devoted to talking about reproduction.

Ah, the good 'ol family doctor. Seems like our parents always thought he was better than any surgeon or specialist. There simply was no referral process in their eyes. If the family doctor didn't know it or couldn't take care of it, you might as well be dead.

Not that at all. $$$-Cheap. Dad's picture was next to the word in the dictionary. He mellowed out as he got older, but even though we were firmly middle class, we lived like paupers in so many ways.

Just found out my wife is pregnant with our 4th daughter. As the oldest of 4 boys I really feel like someone is playing a joke on me.

Reversal is scheduled for next week.

Takes two hours and recovery is supposed to be about the same for vasectomy.

Apparently insurance companies readily pay for you to become sterile but aren't so willing to pay for you to become fertile again. Not a big surprise there.

I mowed over my mom's tomato plant when I was little because I thought it was a weed. My wife was an oops. Her brother and sister are 17 and 16 years older, respectively.
This reminds me, for some reason I love the sound of running over a weed with the lawnmower. I've been thinking that a "Favorite Sounds - Not Music" thread might be a fun Friday OT.

putting "girl" in my screen name here. :jimlad:

nice coincidence this being today's post. There was a big oops yesterday, not mine, but I was just thinking how I would hope to never have that kind of oops but understand how it could happen.

Having your screen name be a sexual position?

Not my Oops but my Father's...

When my family first moved to Ankeny in 1979 we lived on State street and the family next door were the Albaughs. Yep, that Dennis Albaugh. Him and my dad used to sit outside, grilling and complaining about their yards not being green enough and one day Dennis came up with a plan to buy a chemical spraying truck and start spraying lawns. Kept after my dad to go in with him as a partner but my dad repeatedly told him nope, not interested. You know the rest of the story..... :(

Fun thread....lets see.

Losing my license the semester before graduating from ISU...that really helps with the job hunt. Dumb....all speeding tickets, and lost every one. Literally delayed my job out of school nearly a year. Dumb.

Got romantically involved with a coworker. Dumb.

Did not have an extra $120 to be knocked out during a wisdom tooth extraction....tooth was infected, and that process really sucked. If I could send myself the $120 back to 1996, I would do it 10x. Ridiculous. No insurance after graduating ISU, without a license.....fun times.

This thread just has so much potential.

This one is very minor compared with some of these, but I was communicating over e-mail and noticed this woman's last name had changed. I normally wouldn't say anything but said I noticed the change, did you just get married? No, divorced. Glad this was over e-mail and not in person.

I had tickets to the big ok state football victory. Decided it wasn't worth the drive from Omaha as it was a week day iirc and thought we'd get blown out anyway.

Stupid stupid stupid.

speaking of oops babies, DH showed me a post about a fake pregnancy test that always says positive.

I feel like any man who tries to play that prank on the woman in their life will end up infertile via a multitude of painful processes.

What does DH stand for?

Watching or attending every ISU/Iowa game from 1983-1997. In 98' I decided enough was enough and went to work instead. DOH!!!!
