For football? Yes.Would that mean 22 conference games?
I am a proponent of divisions. Having 16 or 18 team conferences is just a mess of schools with limited story lines but at the very top.Watch us get stuck in the east with Cincy, WVU, UCF, Houston, TCU, Baylor and Texas Tech.
Would hope for north and south.Watch us get stuck in the east with Cincy, WVU, UCF, Houston, TCU, Baylor and Texas Tech.
I think this is what the conference commissioners are trying to achieve if each conference receives a set number of auto-qualifiers and then there be a couple at large/G5 bids.My vote is no fixed divisions. But I think the schedule each year should have two round robins. That way you ensure the top of each group play each other and it doesn't all come down to tiebreakers.
in my oponion, to make it as fair as possible it should be like Big 8 schools + SWC schools as one division and then the others are kind of stuck together....sucks for them but would bring some sort of normalcy back to the regional tiesI am a proponent of divisions. The biggest issue with divisions historically dealt with having a weak division champ winning the CCG. The Big10 West predicament. But with 8 or 9 team divisions, that limits the probability of a low ranked team making a CCG. Also, Conferences shouldn't "fall-in-love" with one East/West or North/South division set-up. If after 2 or 4 years one division is significantly tougher- adjust.
ISU is a fit for east or west. But I have to believe under any scenario that Kansas & Kansas State would be in the same division as Iowa State. And then CU if we go west or Okie State if we are in an eastern division. I hope the Big12 tries to balance out the divisions more than being 100% focused on geography.
