At this point in his career I think Rocco is better than Purdy.
Rocco is not making the bone headed plays that Purdy would do time to time. What was impressive about Becht last night was that he came out hot and continued that way the entire game. He made all the throws a QB has to make, instead of missing receivers because he was overthrowing them.

Rocco knows when to throw the ball away. Those are hidden yards that Brock, for all his talents, would often give up.

There were times I felt Purdy was trying to do too much, forcing that Int. at the end of the championship game vs OU is an example. We were marching down the field to win the game and he tried to force a throw when he should of just thrown it away and get them next play. Becht is not making those mistakes, and we do not have Hall being a difference maker in the backfield.

I agree. For the most part since he's been with the Niners, Brock has been much better in this area. I think it just boils down to wanting to make a play.

I heard an interview with Purdy going into his senior year, and that was the one thing he wanted to stop doing, but it never happened. One of the hardest things for a QB is learning to play at a high level and not make mistakes or silly throws. Becht is doing that the past couple of games, taking what is there and not forcing throws that could be trouble.

I don't know man, second year Purdy was peak Purdy, threw for almost 4000 yards and 27 touchdowns along with 8 rushing touchdowns.
Rocco is better at this point. He already has Purdy's year 4 pocket presence, he has a stronger arm that is just as accurate, he can run, he doesn't commit a lot of turn overs, he avoids hidden yardage with throwing the ball away, he stays calmer in general. He's really really good.

Last night was one of Rocco’s best games in my opinion. I think the only missed throw I saw was on a deep sideline throw to Noel at the end of the first half (same play as the Iowa game). Most of the other incompletions were throw-aways. Another incompletion on third down to Brahmer was perfectly thrown, but the defender just made a great play.

Purdy was great and saying I think Rocco is better at this point is no knock on him. I think ISU will have 2 QBs playing in the NFL before long. Rocco's 6-0. Both go through progressions better than most which I think separates them. Watching them Rocco has better arm strength. Short passes are crisper which makes them less likely to get picked which Purdy did at times. Both remind me of Joe Montana which is high praise.

Shout out to Eli Green for making a couple of big catches in the second half. I know the Noel was in on the hands team at the end but I hope he is good to go next week.

CMC also mentioned postgame that Steve Klotz is pretty much playing on one leg right now. If he could get healthier, it would really open up the run game.

I've never understood the love for Green. Everytime I watch WVU he isn't that impressive. And the fact that they win a lot more when he isn't throwing the ball very much seems like a stat that a good QB wouldn't have.
