You need to take a break from social. Being serious. You’re this upset towards me over something that has nothing to do with me or you. You hate Elon cool so don’t a lot of people but letting it have this kind of grip on you isn’t healthy.

Thank you.

Not upset with you at all. Surprised it upsets people to point out when powerful people celebrate Nazis.

Frivolous is an interesting description for something that caused direct monetary damages.
Whether it caused direct monetary damages is irrelevant. Something can be completely true and still cause damage.

I get Twitter’s point. However, my response would be that it should have been impossible for those ads to appear next to that content.

Also, the whole reason this is an issue is because Twitter is a ******** and musk is saying that anti-Semitic conspiracy theories are “the actual truth.” If this was a well-run company it wouldn’t be good, but wouldn’t be nearly the same issue

Edit: just letting you know calling some Nazi over and over again eventually makes it lose the true substance of the word if it isn’t actually accurate. Do you truly believe Elon is a nazi?

These people Elon celebrates regularly and whom he helps attack innocent people call themselves Nazis.

That wasn’t the question. Since you didn’t answer I’ll ask another Is this guy a friend of yours or a relative or something? Curious unless you do this for everyone that has had this happen to them. I’m trying to figure how this is just has consumed you the way it has

It was a national news story breaking today. It got picked up all over the place.

You're living in a fantasy land if you don't think the second richest man in the world with 150M X followers doxing completely random Americans and ruining their lives...and doing so to help self described proud nazis...is not a story.

Peace.

Okay big shooter. It’s a story cool and what exactly are you or I going to do about it? Here’s a hint nothing. Because nothing can be done by you or me. Hence why I don’t let it consume me the way it does to you. Try it cause I’m not letting it dictate how I act or go about my life.

It doesn’t consume me. I don’t even use social media other than this CF board, I stopped almost ten years ago. I’m going to call out Nazis and white supremacy when I see it in the world because I’m not a monster. It’s really that simple and I’m not sure why you’re taking it so personally.

Plenty of people have stopped using Twitter over this sort of thing and that’s fine. Humans can hold opinions on things that are out of their control, that’s life.

umm because you made it personal when you had an issue with my post. Cool call out Nazis. I literally said every single one of those in that story should have been unmasked so we could know who they are. Don’t you agree that should happen anytime they parade around in their circus suits?

I thought you were all in on free market capitalism? That often leads to "direct monetary damages." McDonalds can't force me to buy their hamburgers, which hurts their bottom line. That doesn't make me liable to McDonalds.
The basis of free anything is responsibility for ones own actions.

If you put a worm in a hamburger and then tout it as their fault (even if there is the tiniest fraction of a possibility that a worm could naturally find its own way there), you would be liable.

The examples that keep coming to my mind are the stories of bugs/rats/animal feces being found in food products. If that actually happened to you, and you publicized it, the company would probably lose business. But just because they lost business doesn’t mean that they are justified in suing you.

So Twitter is responsible for their own algorithm.

But that would be like if Media Matters faked the image, which no one is saying they did.

Sorry about saying your post was dumb. I didn’t realize I made it that personal, should have highlighted the contrast without that.

Do you see the glaring contrast of claiming everything is fine if you make sure your feed is well kept on this day that this particular story broke?

That’s all I meant and I’d think 100% of non-Nazis can see that.

What are you doing here then, trying to sell a self help podcast?

Their liability will be in their presentation and how they arrived at it. Their article was intentionally misleading at best. Omission is a form of deception.
Potentially. But if their statement was “ads for these companies appeared next to these posts,” and they have proof of that, then where is the lie?

Twitter said that brands were protected from showing up next to Nazi propaganda, MM showed otherwise, they didn't break any ToS or laws that I'm aware of, or hack twitter, doctor images, etc., they just used the platform.

It is a lie of omission, which is a legally recognized form of deception.

Their article basically reads like "hey, we were browsing Twitter, and look at the ads we found next to racist content".

If they had said that "Twitter says their algorithms make this impossible, but we were able to produce these results by taking these specific steps" it would be easily defensible.

Embarrassing to Twitter still, but that wouldn't produce the result that they wanted.
