Curious what you think of dauster saying prohm wants out of ames.

Also it feels like you are back tracking from yesterday a bit.

Didn't see this...was it a tweet or article or what? It didn't literally state Prohm wants out of Ames, did it ????

It was a podcast that has been linked in this thread and the other one. And it literally said that porhm either wants out of Ames or has said he wants out of Ames.

Cool.

Dauster and/or whoever was on his podcast today said that Prohm wants out of Ames and before A&M fired Kennedy there were some back channel discussions between him and A&M about taking that job over for Kennedy and Kennedy taking an admin position. Obviously, he wouldn't go there after they fired Kennedy.

But that whole story is so oddly specific that it has the legs of being true. Like, any idiot could speculate that he'd want to go to Alabama because that's where he went to school. Or could speculate about him (or his wife) wanting to go back south. But it's very specific to say he wants out of Ames and that weird A&M scenario.

So you like your conspiracy theories oddly specific... Good to know going forward that the bigger the tale, the easier it is to get people to believe.

Just avoid the CPR type contract.
I think we can win with a lot of coaches, and that Prohm’s four seasons have been of average coaching. But these aren’t punitive or reward based decisions. Prohm has leverage. While he hasn’t yet done as well as 4 to 6 other Big 12 coaches, it’s more about the future. Another $1 million, maybe more, is pretty cheap aversion of risk/slippage of coaching changes.

Looking back though, what did even the Rhoads contract really cost Iowa State? Maybe he would have been fired after 2014 so possibly a year but I'm not sure. Sure it sucks to lose the money and you don't want to make it a habit. But coaches talk, and I wouldn't be surprised if Campbell was drawn to Iowa State knowing he'd have long term support from the AD.

Gotta imagine JP will give Prohm a raise once the season is done. Not sure he'll get 3M, but he should be getting at least 2.7. He's currently 9th out of 10 coaches in salary in the Big 12, which should not be the case at ISU.

He should be top 4 in the Big 12. The days of getting by cheap are over. Fred had no experience so he was cheap and Prohm came from a small school. There are a lot of coaches above him getting paid for a lot less success

If the contract type didn’t change anything, it didn’t mean anything in regards to CMC. But it could have saved us some money.
Imo coaches aren’t going to see a big difference firing a coach after 6 years or 7 years. Hypothetically, if we’re in a bidding war, I’d rather give Prohm more per year than trying to get a discounted rate due to length. But if Bama really wanted him, we’d likely have to add significant length to the deal.
