That would be nice. Give him a chance to show what he's learned by coaching at the highest level.

Of course, we know he's learned nothing, but he should have a chance at Texas to prove that.

UT does match Alford's ego pretty well. Not sure there's room enough in Texas for both though.

As I recall the TX players are all pretty highly regarded recruits out of HS. At some level TX just seems to fail at hiring coaches, or maybe coaches are just not able to handle the pressure of coaching there. Barnes seems to be doing fine elsewhere. Look at all the years they struggled to win at football with top 5 recruiting classes. Just crazy.

Testifying
Assuming Beard stays, why wouldnt Texas offer and hire Buzz Williams 10 minutes after the call?

With as many hard ons as people on here have with him, doctors should be busy with people checking in after 4 hours.

Would you consider Fred coaching at “home” if he was coaching at Okie State? Same distance between those towns and Lubbock and Beards hometown by Houston.

My whole point is Bob Huggins was born in Morgantown and played at WV. He went home. That scenario is so rare. Compare Beard to the several other coaches coaching at their alma mater.

Where they love the governor
My guess is that a lot of coaches (ok, people) would enjoy the city of Austin more than Lubbock. Maybe that could be a factor. It's also more centrally located relative to the other large metropolitan areas in TX.

No one in their right mind would choose Lubbock over Austin. Mud rain vs awesome everything isn't a real choice.

Since Webber has started to be better and gain more respect, please let Alford coach there for our entertainment purposes.

Yeah, I was trying to be diplomatic. Austin is a great town.

Austin>Lubbock. Been to Lubbock many times on business you can go from downtown to the middle of the sticks in 10 minutes. If Beard were offered, he'd be an idiot for not taking it.
