Getting rid of Barnes was stupid
They ought to give him about five more years, just to be sure.
From the UT message board..
I don't like it simply because eventually UT will find someone who can coach and the league doesn't need to be any harder.
If Texas U ever gets really serious about mens basketball...Kansas could be in trouble....With an unlimited amount of money, I cant figure out why the Horns want to be an average to mediocre b-ball program....I wish Mr Shaka Smart would stay for another 10 years or so.....
I think Texas athletes are too pampered. Their football and basketball teams should always be great, but they seem to underachieve.
Shaka was a pretty major hire and its been somewhat surprising its gone sideways like this.
My wish list for Texas:
1. Todd Lickliter
2. Frank Haith
3. Greg McDermott
4. Tim Miles
5. Mark Phelps
I disagree because it was time for Barnes and Texas to part ways at the time. They just made a bad hire.
Beard to Texas so tech goes back to the cellar.
I heard Austin and Texas have good great golf courses, beautiful weather, easy to recruit and $$$ is never a problem! Hoiberg
I assumed Smart would get at least another year as long as UT reached the tournament, at minimum. That possibility is on shaky ground now. Or "on Shaka ground."
In all seriousness, I think Texas makes a hard push for Beard or Greg Marshall
What is their level of attraction? Could they pull a Beilien or Jay Wright?
I don’t think the standard at Texas is barely sneaking in the tourney. That’s what got Barnes fired.
Agreed. I don't think the Booster Club will pass around the hat to buy out a BB coach. A FB coach would be another story..
In before Fred to Texas.
True, but I figured that was the tipping point that either could buy another season or be the deal-breaker.
Don't think this will happen, but I'm picturing that meltdown on top of everything CF has brought us the past month. It ain't pretty.
