I’ve been really impressed with THT the last several games. Really hard to take him off the floor. He brings so much at both ends of the court. He really did an awesome job on Osetkowski. Given what he did to us last year that was huge
Only complaint is he takes some tough shots early in the shot clock. The last few games he's been making more, so it hides the problem a bit, but some of those missed early shot clock threes off the dribble with a guy in his face led to long rebounds and runouts the other way.
But overall he's been really impressive at holding his own defensively and really rebounded tough yesterday. When he was in Texas didn't really get on the offensive glass. When THT was out , especially in the 2nd half, UT had a few extra possessions from offensive rebounds.

IIRC correctly Cam had a huge block that let to a fast transition for ISU. Cam was jacked up about the block and then was behind in getting up the court on offense. We scored, Texas inbounded quickly and Cam was at half, backpedaled quickly, tried to stop it, and Texas sank a 3.

Yeah, not as big of deal as people are making it out to be. If he's not back there, no one is.

You and everyone who agreed with this should face consequences.

In the 1st half we were v good on offense just didn't hit shots. 2nd half we seemed to force some shots against their zone but overall that's just an abnormally poor shooting night. This team won't miss that many lay ups/dunks 9/10 days.

I will say, I wanted more Tyrese in the second half. Feel like at this point it's inarguable he leads to great offense even if he isn't scoring. Not to mention his length is a plus plus on D.
Face the consequences of what exactly? The guy couldn’t make a layup.. we have a bench full of talent. There is nothing wrong hoping that when someone is having that kind of a game that they might give tally or a different lineup a chance.. I would guess the guys thinking that they are competing for playing time feel the same way. I really don’t care about padding Shayoks stats.

Can someone please explain to me why the Texas guy that fell down when trying to catch a pass didn't get called for traveling? He slid two feet on the floor. Seemed like an easy call to me.
He didn't fall down with the ball. He never had possession until he was already on the floor. He may have slid a little but not that bad. It was a good non call.

Yeah, I think he maybe could have been called for a travel (more because he rocked around on the ground) but I’m not upset that he didn’t. Probably could have gone either way, but I don’t think it was bad officiating. I thought officiating was pretty good overall and, if anything, actually slightly benefited us. There were probably 5 out of bounds calls where they gave the ball to us and I have no idea how we weren’t the last one to touch the ball.

You think Talley is going to get a bucket if ISU needs it?

It wasn't about padding stats. That notion is absurd.

The bucket had a lid on it yesterday which all players experience. If just a couple shots go down for him like normal it's an easy win.

And who hit the big shot and sealed the game with free throws?

I remember thinking the same thing when I was watching it.

The thing with free throws are: I feel more confident in our guys than really ever before, and lately we’ve done a nice job overall.
Prohm in the post game with Blum and Walters said he wasn’t happy with our missed FTs yesterday (we were 11-14 for 79%).
It’s awesome that he continues the push for improvement.

As much as many ISU fans seem reluctant to accept, Shayok is ISUs best player and go to guy and it really isn't close. Even if he's having a poor shooting game he's got the ability to get a bucket when needed and knock down clutch FTs. Yesterday was the ultimate outlier in shooting.

For a big guy, Cam has a nice FT shot

It’s his team. He’s the best player on a championship level team. He gets the benefit of the doubt, always.

I think you’re making my point for me here?

When I look at it as “someone’s team” I look at it as who is the most important part of the team, not the most talented.

No. It is a pretty common phenomenon. Look at the warriors, KD is their best player, but Klay Thompson and Dramond Green are their most important players.

Iowa State related
Georges Jr year, it was his team, but Monte and McKay were the most important players. Hell the first sweet 16 team in school history was Jeff Grayer’s team, but Hornacek was the most important player. Willoughby was the best player, it was his team, but Cato was the most important player.

The narrative with this year, is that for this team to reach its potential, Cam has to round in to form.

The list goes on and on with that

This is the great “only see 1 move ahead” thinking I come to game threads for.

Way up there
It was a little thing but on Wigginton's 4 point play, prior the ball being across half court, Haliburton was directing him to run to the opposite side to the spot he hit the shot. Maybe LW ends up switching sides eventually and getting ope but Tyrese saw it 5 seconds before anyone else. Just one example of the impact he has, even if the ball isn't in his hands.

This doesn't seem to be a team with that 'alpha male' type like Kane or whatever and that doesn't have to be the case.

But yesterday at the end ISU needed someone to make a play and he did. Also even though I'm a little nervous with his handle vs a press he's a guy you want shooting free throws at the end.

Anyone with rose colored glasses about past teams needs to go back and realize they all struggled to win and/or had off nights.

Yep and it's crazy they've been that good lately.

Michigan State was 8/22 last night from the line.

Apparently bad nights happen.
