Is someone ******** about FT shooting? This thread now has all of the dumb clown fan cliches covered.

We’re a good FT shooting team. Enjoy it. About as good or better than any team I can think of in the past decade.

Yeah, someone commented that Lard isn't a good free throw shooter, so I had to ask why they considered 75% bad. Actually, watching Cam shoot free throws, he has a very sweet stroke.

Ya, Lard is at 75% shooting 9 out 12 from the lane, small sample set this year. Last year he shot 56%, he must have really improved a ton.

If you are correct and Lard is a great free throw shooter than we have a serious coaching problem. Because Prohm, who is doing a great job, took out our second best percentage FT shooter, best shot blocker and best rebounder in the Texas game in the last minute, for Jacobson, who is a worse FT shooter at 65%, of course he has shot 70 more, worse rebounder and not a shot blocker.

So why did he take Lard out? Maybe because he looks at 75% on 9/12 and knew that was the man that Texas would be fouling.

Lets puts some context in looking at the stats, you sound like a Squawk fan.

No it’s even more specific. It’s specificaly the free throw shooting in the last 4 minutes. What a world.

Ya, its a ***** isn't it, shooting clutch FT's or missing them cost you games in the last 2 minutes or seal them away for wins. Remind me, how many did me miss in the KSU game in the last 2 minutes that we lost by one. I think it was four, with one being a one and one. Both players were above 75% on the season, neither hit one of those FT's that would have tied or could have won the game for us.

We are a good free throw shooting team percentage wise, but other that Shayok, we can and have been missing them at the end of games.

He took Lard out in favor of a guard in the final min not Jacobson. I found it curious since there was still time for Texas to get a couple of possessions which left us disadvantaged on rebounding. Thought Prohm was going to sub a big in after we got fouled but he didn't. He had a lot of faith in making those FT's.

Have you looked up how other teams are in this area? I’d be willing to bet almost universally they’re the same, if not worse, than us.

I'd be willing to bet you are correct. That doesn't matter to him though.

I don't remember what we shot from the line against WVU, but I seem to recall we were pretty good.

It's not about the free throws for this guy, it's about Prohm.

The ***** is going in to an argument about free throws assuming 100% is an attainable goal.

I'll ask the same question I asked a few weeks ago: Did people nitpick Fred's teams this much? After games we won?

Good question. Winning at the rate that ISU did under Fred was still relatively 'new' so maybe people were just willing to let these little things go.

Definitely things like effort, team chemistry, etc. were common topics and I know there were some issues somewhere in there with time outs.

But that was typically after losses iirc.
