Wherever I go, there I am.
If you weren't in hillbilly haven I definitely would. My mom is a face to face type person, even with her inabilities to get around, so I would not find that drive all that entertaining. Our main guy does not do tax prep at all, I like that (bad experience with a previous attorney that would not do any non tax prep work from January through April) except for a couple situations that we are having with business/estate things where I have to go back and forth with the CPA too much to iron things out.
Yeah, I can appreciate that. I do a lot of tax work, but I never use that as an excuse or a reason to avoid taking on projects during the season. Since we are discussing it, I'd best make my annual posting. Too bad Pants won't care this year!

Problem with this guy is he would take on work and then just let it sit. He would meet with you to get the business and then if you called to get an update in a couple months, you could get lit up that it is tax season and they will get to it after taxes are done. He has lost a lot of non tax business due to this. At the bank, we would use him for title opinions, he was the cheapest, but we always struggled to get a one month turn around on them. He is extremely slow.

Sometimes there are mini rants of a post that just make you smile because you know a **** storm is brewing and ready to explode.

Lawman is probably happy they daycare is closed so I stop asking him random tax questions. I am as well. Part of me liked it but I have always wished for simple filing.

Yup. That's what I thought. :D
The funny thing is that I'm not the worst in my family. I will go to the doctor when something is wrong. Mrs. Velo takes the attitude if I ignore it, it will go away. Hey, lady, we've got insurance for a reason!

She gets if from her mother who recently (at 70+) fell down their deck stairs (2nd story deck). She got beat up pretty good and had to get teeth repaired. She was having all sorts of leg and arm problems but wouldn't go to the doctor. Finally 2-3 months later she went and found out she did all sorts of damage. Of course the doctor broke out the "if you would have only come to me sooner" line but this isn't the first time she has refused to go and been proven wrong and I'm sure it won't be the last time.

Actually have something to file I have not had to in the past. Got some estate distributions that are taxable. Since it took like forever to closeout there were some interest earnings on some remaining certificates, i.e. interest accrued after my mothers death. Got a form on it from the lawyer, guessing it's a 1041 filling thingie to figure out later this winter.

This reminds me of my father's attitude - if it came by itself, it will go away by itself. o_O
