Remember when Missouri left for greener grass?

Yep, the TCU choice over Louisville still wasn't my preference and it would have given them a partner.

I feel like I'd need to take a long shower after having Petrino and Pitino in the conference. Or maybe just spray everybody down with the hose out back.

I saw this is their first time they have been in the red since joining the SEC. I haven't looked at their finances or read any further, but I'm sure their capital improvement projects are hitting them pretty hard.

Well in 2013 and 2014 they were profitable, according to this article
http://www.kansascity.com/sports/college/sec/university-of-missouri/article8564105.html

Looks like they were in the black in 2015 and 2016 too, according to this article
http://www.stltoday.com/sports/coll...cle_e2120a94-61d9-5c66-b05c-53af06b99970.html

This appears to be the first year they've been in the red since leaving the big 12.

I was referring to the part I bolded. Not the headline:)

It wouldn't surprise me if UCONN dropped football and joined the BigEast for all their sports. If I remember correctly, there was serious discussion on this back when it looked like the Big12 might take all the top teams out of the American conference.

Geno was willing to give up his salary for the year just to help with the budget issue's they are having within the state education, I imagine looking long and hard at a miserable football program could be very enticing. I don't know if it'll happen, but I remember hearing something similar.

I'll never be able to prove it, but I believe all the realignment trauma ended up being the kick in the rear we needed to take the next step as an athletic department. We had great leadership through the process (Pollard) and I think it ultimately revealed that our brand (particularly football) was under valued. We're not out of the woods and things will get very interesting again in a few years. However, in the midst of all the chaos, I never could have believed things could have turned out this great.

This is great but I would love to see MIz come back to the B12.

The blow that this move would strike to the narrative of super conferences and B12 instability would be epic. An SEC team leaving for the B12 just blows all of that away. As much as I resent Mizzou for their role in all this, the benefits to ISU and the league that would come from Mizzou's return would be worth setting animosity aside.

Exactly. I enjoy watching those slack-jawed yokels struggle, but we've gotta think big picture folks. Snagging Mizzou & Arkansas would sure beat the hell out of a BYU-Cincy combo.

If slashing travel expenses puts them back in the black, the lack of an exit fee makes a lateral move not that far-fetched.

Can't play 9 conference games with 11 teams. Math doesn't work.

Sure you can. The B1G Televen played even fewer conference games and were ok with some teams missing each other from year to year (not protected rivalries, of course). The top two finishers would meet in the championship even if they dodged each other on the schedule.

No, you really can't. You could play 8 or you could play 10, but not 9. An odd number of teams can't play an odd number of games.

The only way the Big12 should ever entertain adding Mizzou would be if we got rid of Baylor. And, unfortunately, Baylor isn't going away.
